Is it a good idea to change these? I have 63,000 miles on my transmission fluid and about 30,000 miles on the diff fluid.

Congratulations on the milage. Is it a good idea to change these? I have 63,000 miles on my transmission fluid and about 30,000 miles on the diff fluid.
Thank you.Congratulations on the milage.
Fluids have changed so much over the last years. I usually check with the recommended service intervals. If they seem crazy long I might change early.
Okay... I'll bite. Did you change the differential or the differential fluid at 33,000 miles, and if so, why?I have 63,000 miles on my transmission fluid and about 30,000 miles on the diff fluid.
Diff pinion seal was leaking and had to be replaced along with half shaft seals, it was flushed as part of that service.Okay... I'll bite. Did you change the differential or the differential fluid at 33,000 miles, and if so, why?
Just curious...!
Its not tracked. Almost 60% of the miles is city miles. I ll probably do it around 75,000 mile mark. I did the plugs at 50,000 miles and there was a lot of concerning squeaky noises which made me hold my breath several seconds longer. I dont know what would happen to those plugs in 100,000 miles if I were to listen Ford.If it’s not tracked, I’d go at least 80% of the miles the manual says. If tracked, I wouldn’t fault you for being more conservative.
I thought the transmission fluid change required you to run through gears and refill while on the lift which is why I avoided doing itIt certainly won't hurt to change the fluids earlier. I changed both mine at 3000 miles just for peace of mind. I plan on changing them every 30000 miles or so just because its pretty easy to do and doesn't take much fluid in either, (diff. And manual xmsn) so the cost is low. But thats just me.
It does, but upon lifting her up to refill, level was still there, nothing to refill... So, it' s pretty straight forward.I thought the transmission fluid change required you to run through gears and refill while on the lift which is why I avoided doing it
Well, sort of. The instructions say to drain the fluid, refill to the bottom of the fill hole and then run the engine with the clutch engaged to run the fluid pump to push fluid through the cooler and clear out any air that might have gotten into the cooler lines. You can do this with the box in neutral because the pump runs off the input shaft - there's no "through the gears" required like it would be on an automatic.I thought the transmission fluid change required you to run through gears and refill while on the lift which is why I avoided doing it
