Hi all - Wanted to ask if anyone in the group lives in PA and has had lemon law experience.

Bought a 2018 GT350 with 12,400 miles. There was dealership warranty for 1-month / 1,000 miles. I had a check engine light come on at around 13,200 miles and let the dealership know within the allowed warranty timeframe.

From a quick conversation with my sales rep, he said they can not and will not cover any damages or repairs and that the warranty was for their in house technician. He also said they are not liable if anything serious happened to the car under my possession. Basically said you bought it as-is not our problem.

I dropped the car off at a Ford dealership last Monday and they just got back to me and said multiple cylinders are cracked.

From my quick read online, PA does not have lemon laws on used vehicles. I have contacted a lemon law lawyer in PA but wanted to know if anyone here thinks it's a lost cause.

The ford technician believes the issue was there before I even received the car but they are continuing to look for the root of the problem. But their initial feedback was that the cylinders are cracked and will very likely need a new engine.

Don't live in PA. Cracked cylinders? Is your oil a milk shake? Are you low on coolant? Do you see oil in coolant? If you answer no to all these questions then I doubt you have cracked cylinders.

Did you get any documentation with the "warranty?"
I don't think lemon laws will help much with used.
Sounds like someone traded it in just to dump it.

Ford is still running through their diagnostic. I went in person today to grab something from my car. It was just sitting in the lot and not on a lift.

The tech showed me a picture on his phone and said our initial read is that the engine will need to be replaced. There are multiple cracked cylinders. I asked him to send the photos but he has not.

I guess it's possible he heard me say I just bought the car and assumed I have warranty and wants to make some money. But it is a reputable ford shop so I doubt he's being dishonest.

He said he wants to perform more tests though...

It looks like I have Zurich Limited Warranty: Powertrain 6/6 for 6,000 miles or 6-months. So I think I may be ok. But very sad as I've only had the car for less than a month

I'm not sure on any of your questions. I will ask the technician when they reach out.

Hello; Likely the word "cracked" should have been "scratched" or "scored". From the pictures looks like something scratched a groove into the metal of the cylinder walls.
On many GT-350 V8's the cylinders were lined with a very thin lining. That means the engine cylinders cannot be bored out to clean up scratches.
Fair chance something or many somethings have been circulating thru the engine. I am a bit anal about a new to me used car and would have changed the oil and filter right away. If the oil has not been changed have the shop pull the oil filter for a look see. Maybe have the oil drained into a clean container and look for shiny metal in the oil. Gold or copper color indicates bearing material. if the stuff is picked up with a magnet, then indicates a ferrous metal.

Too bad for your new-to-you car if any of these things are true. Of course, many other possibilities.

I do not know what others have done when a GT-350 engine has gone bad. A replacement will be expensive.

Sorry to hear your story my man, hopefully the warranty will cover everything and you walk away with a fresh motor, kind of a blessing in disguise. When I bought my car I found metal in my oil when I changed it ended up bringing it back to ford and got a fresh motor and she runs like a champ! Best of luck

There is no such thing as lemon law on an 8 year old car anywhere.
