Cracked Tire??

Craziest thing. I was about to get in and drive to work but saw that my rear driver's side tire was flat. I though I had a nail in it or something so I inflated it and air came rushing out of the crack on the sidewall. I have no idea how this happened. I didn't hit anything and the car has under 2,000 miles.

Any thoughts here? Just a mnfgr defect? Luckily I bought the tire and wheel package from my dealer.

Slashed tire looks like to me. Parked in garage or on the street? The cut is clean and straight. They cut it and the cut is shallower on the ends deeper in the middle. Odd in the fact that most stab the tire not slash it but that is too perfect to be a defect in my opinion.

It does look a little like it goes down to the contact patch where the tread hits the road. Maybe something pushed up thru the tire and exited the side wall. Definitely a possibility but with out seeing if there is a hole in the tread, hard to say. Still, I don't think defect.

Looks like trail of the blade on the right side of the cut.

That's the crazy thing. I drove home from work and it was fine. I park the car in my garage at night and found it like that the next morning.

Yeah it was a cut, could have run over something jagged too.

It was either cut by a knife, or something you ran across on the road.

Could have been done at work and the drive home and parking finished it off in the garage.
