if ins writes off the car completely you wont be able to reregister it
if its an rebuildable writeoff you can
its mainly to stop thieves swapping bits out on a stolen car and saying its the written off one
after owning /building about 5 or 6 black cars you would think i would have woken up by now
but i havent they range from this

do what pleases you most mate i put red mach 1 stripes down sides not trying to fool anyone just because i like a bit of colour there it also matches the outline stripes over the car

cars dirty as i have been working on other cars in garages
besides at 80yrs old i go slow now when working on them
mate i had similar from a guy in a 4wd scraping my bar
i repaired it fairly easily with a p/pak can of paint mixed by a local paint shop
preparation is the main thing eg..feathering the paint
i used a promoter and undercoat to match
you cannot tell it was damaged and it looked identical to...
you have different brand and style mine is fibreglass
i went by what cervini said still have the new ford ones here i will prob adapt them to one of my old hotrods :)
i used my deck one on the hood/bonnet on ford on left in pic
thankyou i forgot to add they told me to use their hood struts due to different weight i presume pity as i had a new set of ford perf i had bought
also i used aftermarket clips for the washer lines

im in Australia and fitted a Cervini f/glass one the fit and finish is excellent their customer service is great of course by the time it arrives here and i painted it its about 3 times the cost you would pay there but overall im very happy with it
not great pics but you get the general...
i will join in my 66 i bought new circuit raced for a few years then went into a higher class {sports sedans} running a 351w with a paxton blower then retired it as my tow car for the new race car

3 of mine together the Model T sits on a model A chassis using model a front end and i converted the mechanical a brakes to hydraulic
the middle Ford was before i painted the flames on it
i had one model a rdstr cant retrieve pics from photobucket jail it was channeled 6" over a 32 frame sbc,, my model t ,ford pilot,, customline. 66 mustang i circuit raced from 66 to 70 then raced a 1970 xw falcon gt plus a lot more in my 80yrs on this earth

i had 2 reasons i painted /fitted my one
one im in Australia and they only come unpainted
and two i dont trust transport companys
but i must add they are quality made perfect fit and finish i refitted the rubber seal and washers all in all 10/10
by the way i had just bought ford...
thankyou i added the mesh after i found similar pattern to grille
excellent fit and finish by them we painted it here in Australia fitted the org seal and screen washers
also used their hood struts as they didnt reccomend using the ford performance ones i had just bought
