Mitigation of the pandemic is certainly a worthy and just cause, even if it includes, for a period of time, sacrificing ones social liberties for the greater good. Sensible measures to achieve a positive outcome to get us back to some version of normality is a good thing.I would hope that anyone out there who feels their rights were infringed upon would look at the big picture and realize that this is a state of emergency. Had we not done what we did, the story would be much worse.
However, for some politicians, this crisis presents itself as an opportunity to influence government intervention and overreach where it has no place or purpose.
Mandating that citizens are forbidden to travel to their own property in their state, or ordering the National Guard to go door-to-door to shake down New Yorkers, is way beyond the pale IMO.
It is these types of crisis's that bring about significant societal change that can, and have, lead to historical despair.
Again, I follow the guidance and am respectful of such, but I am very concerned about the political and societal influences that will remain long after the virus is defeated.
