How ironic to loose more people to suicide and murder/suicide because they were financially ruined because of the Covid 19 shutdown than from covid 19 itself. Somehow I doubt we will hear about those numbers.
This coming week we will likely top 23-million people on unemployment due to these shutdowns, many who were making good money may be down to $300 - $400 a week trying to survive and feed their families. Ranges from 40-60% of small businesses are no longer working, many at risk of complete failure closing them down for good. The workers who loose their jobs permanently oh well, tough luck.

Facts are we loose anywhere from 30,000 - 90,000 people each year due to the annual flu virus, up to 500,000 - 800,000 are hospitalized each year, 45,000,000 will likely catch the flu. Where is the media coverage and demands to shut down the country for this? Do these folks not count?

The 80,000 that died last year, they didn't matter I guess. They weren't worthy.

Moon: I hear ya, man but the government IS cutting checks to both individuals and businesses so no one is going to starve, hopefully.

But, you simply can't compare the common flu virus with SARS CoV-2. Most people have some amount of immunity to generic influenza but this pathogen is different and hence the only useful antibodies come from living through the disease.

Consequently, it's orders of magnitude more contagious and that's the danger.

Regardless of the financial cost, we have to stop the spread because the alternative is a hundred times worse.

As I said, there is no arguing with stupid or crazy.

This is going to be a while. Sorry if your wife, kids, etc are driving you crazy. And FWIW, I really do feel bad for the folks living from paycheck to paycheck.

I get it but we are at 113,000 Corvid-19 deaths in 210 different Countries or Territories Worldwide! I'm certain many of these countries have not shutdown their economies. We lost 80,000 to the standard Flu last year here.

I do have a question in regards to this statement and maybe I just don't understand this stuff very well. If we essentially do not have generic immunity to this Corvid pathogen as we do the standard Flu, why is it that the overwhelming majority of folks infected need no hospitalization with no vaccine available, and get over the symptoms within a week? I would think if this were the case we would see a much higher hospitalization rates.

Are you aware that Jacob Javits Center in NYC, TCF Center in Detroit, McCormick Center in Chicago, and an NBA arena in Philadelphia have all been converted to field hospitals because the traditional hospitals in those cities have been overrun by COVID-19 patients?

I give up.
NY did everything wrong and still kept ventilator/ICU bed utilization rate under max. We won't talk about how the hospital gets reimbursed $39,000 if covid 19 and ventilator are used on patient chart. Then you have states like MN where it's clear that covid 19 is in pretty much every nursing home and again, not close to maxing resources. Then you read about thousands of nurses being laid off because hospitals are perversely empty because all elective surgery has stopped. When a young person dies they always add some shit like he was a smoker and had asthma, so pretty much ANY respiratory infection could have killed the guy.

All those things paint such a glaring discontinuity with the reality that we are literally gutting the economy, people are right to question if this was really the right way to go about it.

Do you not realize MORE than this many people died from COVID-19 in 2 MONTHS, not a year. This is also WITH shutting down the globe...............

Hey KB, been a little bite since I have been on, hope everyone on the forum is well, being a sb owner I have been very busy with paper work and applications trying to get some of the money you speak of. Have not seen a dime yet :frown:. Hope this changes soon, because if I can't start seeing patients soon and getting a cash flow soon, not sure what I will do.

I read where the theory of any unstoppable force is allowed to flourish, it will only kill so many. In this case 5% of the population. Most of which are old and their days are numbered already from pre-existing conditions.
Once everyone has it then there will be no more population to infect. Then it will disappear when everyone left gets better and has immunity. Which will be 95% of the population.
