I have a '21 GT and a '18 F150 with the gen 3 5.0. Using 93 Costco in both. No issues with either engine. Costco gas is the cheapest here in W. GA . I was fueling the truck this morning and decided to hit the station when it wasn't busy(before 7AM) and see if I could wait to fuel after a vehicle I knew would be pumping 93 also. So, looking for a MB or a Porsche to follow at the same pump. How important is this? I've read that if you choose 93, you're likely to get 87 in the first 2-3 gallons out of the line before the 93 starts flowing? This might be more significant with the Mustang with the smaller tank? The 93 is 58 cents per gallon higher here.

The Costco attendant approached me while I was waiting this morning and we talked some while I was waiting. He assured me their system was set up to deliver 93 immediately when you turned on the pump. I just don't see that as there must be gas left in the pump hose between customers right? That could be a gallon or 2 judging from how long their hoses are. The station was slower than I've ever seen it but about the 6th car that pulled up after waiting about 10 mins was a MB SUV so I followed them. Opinions?

It's far less than a gallon, maybe 1/4 at most in the hose

2-3 gallons?!

Internet says 1 ounce per foot of hose

I remember worrying about it back when I rode motorcycles and guys would squirt a bunch on the ground. More of a difference when you have a 3 gallon tank. We'd usually all fill from the same pump.

I always try to empty whatever I can out of the hose before putting it back, after hitting the pump thing to make it stop and spit out a receipt. I've got some looks before during this process, but gas is MONEY! Not wasting a drop if i dont have to!

It's a good thing that MB SUV owner used the 93. Around here, I see a lot of owners of high-end cars pumping 87 and they swear their salesman told them it is just fine

I've been using Costco 93 because it's the cheapest nearby of the top tier fuels. I used to run Shell 93 but they've jacked up the price on it. I haven't noticed any difference but during the summer I run pure E85.

Tonight I filled up with 93 chevron techron it was 2 bucks more per gallon 5.69. Maybe its in my head but the car seems peppier than the 93 from Costco. at 3.67 per gallon. Anyone else notice a difference with pricier gas? They had 90 non ethanol at pump also for a bit cheaper at chevron and I was wondering if that would change things up also. Been running on Costco 93 for 2 years now. Car always seemed sluggish and quieter than it is now.

93 over 91? I can't imagine you're going to feel much. With e85 alone, my car was peppier, but not crazy. It wasn't until i changed throttle bodies when e85 showed it's true colors.
