I have a concealed carry permit but truth be told you can’t use deadly force to defend a property crime so couldn’t really use it anyway.

Now if the guy took the wing off the car and then tried to assault me with the wing that would be assault with a deadly weapon and you could use lethal force.

TOB for a sec I thought Billy was you until I scrolled further in the thread Yeah I asked him in pvt if he bit the bullet as I didnt want to ask in public, and he said yes and said he should have his head examined, I guess he couldn't wait, but thats one expensive egg roll that for sure.

I took the 500 up to St Augustine last Christmas season to look at the lights with the wife. I took the wing off the car before leaving.

Oh I understand that, but it stops the passerby from being able to do anything, and if your walking around with that someones going to know your up to no good. And yes I accept Tom's answer but at this point if they went to that effort they are gunning for it, not the typical hey I have to get groceries real quick at the store and all a person needs is pliers now.

Not to derail this into a shit show, but in the state of FL I can employ deadly force to "prevent the imminent commission of a forcible felony" (among grave bodily harm, imminent death, etc).

In the state of FL, "Grand Theft" is any intentional and unlawful taking of property valued at $750.00 or more. Grand theft is a felony offense.

Realistically, I wouldn't want to face a jury (or an angry public) after you've smoked someone for stealing end plates for a car wing, but more realistically, I could confront and apprehend someone caught in the act of doing so and if they resist to the point of "great bodily injury" then there's your answer.

FL passed a law so we don't have to be victims and sit idly by with bullshit. I have a right to defend my property, with force if ultimately necessary. I wouldn't go double tapping fools for stealing car parts, but I also ain't gonna sit in the corner and suck my thumb waiting for the cops and I ain't gonna confront someone ****ing with my car WITHOUT a firearm.

I feel like there are a lot of holes in the statute which seems open to wide interpretation. I personally would not use deadly force unless my life was in immediate danger. The $16,000 it will cost me to go buy a new carbon fiber wing is a shit ton less than the fees I will have to pay to lawyers defending myself in court
