Kinda hard to confront crime if you’re not able to witness it. Most criminals don’t wait for someone to pop their head out before they start stealing lol
Which is why I wrote "if I'm able".

Back to the thread, locks keep an honest man honest. They also prevent silly vandalism. Sometimes people will take things just to take them (not because they even feel like they need them).

Whether it's your tow hook, a hood ornament (which is one of many reasons why manufacturers stopped making protruding emblems and ornaments) or your winglets, sometimes douchebags just walking by will mess with a car or try to quick take stuff off it. It's not going to stop a dedicated attack, but much of deterring property crime is simply making it more difficult or more likely of discovery (takes too long, makes too much noise or requires conspicuous tools)

Catalytic converter theft is going to continue to be a problem and I suspect manufacturers are going to start developing ways (ad are after market vendors) of at least making it more difficult for thieves to steal.

I'm all for security fasteners (among other measures). Another level would be some sort of quick disconnect that's strong and robust enough to withstand designed use loads (and repeated connect/disconnect) where you could remove the wing (or parts) and store it inside the vehicle or inside a dwelling

My point was that you said “people are content to be victims”. I think that’s a statement you’d be very hard to quantify by any measurable means…it’s your opinion. I don’t know anyone who just says “ya know what, I hope someone steals my stuff cause I’m too lazy to do anything about it”. There will always be those unwilling to follow laws, it’s a part of human nature to covet things they don’t have or unwilling to work for. Thankfully most of us don’t need to scratch that itch.

Not only is his pricing tripled which now he's getting overly greedy (Think he upgraded to cocaine), but he's also charging for shipping for a crazy amount, I got mine for $60 shipped, now he wants $150? Bet this will sit there for quite some time.

You'd be very surprised. There are people out there with a sickness/psychosis whereby they can't mentally deal with something other than OEM parts being on their car.

There was about a 300 post string/debate on one of the FB GT350 groups about a guy wanting $6k for his OEM 350R splitter. The difference is that now those can't be had (allegedly) anymore from Ford.

So if someone damages theirs, and they want a replacement (like immediately) there are people that are willing to pay the squeeze to get the juice. It might sit for awhile, but eventually there'll be one of those "I only let the dealership touch my car" kinda guys who's needing a replacement for their stolen or damaged TP wing and they'll cough up money for it.

Oh I wholeheartedly agree with you, you are no doubt correct, the point was they put out 3 wings and all under 6K all three (Mine being $4K) were gone in 1 week, 1! So in short the got 12K in 1 week and now he thinks hey I cant get more, and yes some have that issue, but maybe I am looking at it wrong but if your going to spend $12K on a damaged wing and would have to pay shipping, tax AND to repair it PLUS it doesn't come with all the hardware (Dogbone brackets, Trunk nuts and Trunk lid screws) which is going to bring you to almost $14.5K I'd rather spend the $16K and get most likely the year warranty or whatever it is, but thats just me.

This whole wing obsession is nuts.

This is the reason that Ford is inflating their prices. If the wing was all you can eat, each unit would be less than $1500.

This is demand exceeding supply, pure and simple.

Yep, and aftermarket will fill that supply leaving Ford holding on to many overpriced stock wings

I guess so, but this wing is nothing of any exceptional quality. This wing is made in China and its build quality is questionable.

I'm not surprised to see so many rejects on the market. We all know that they had to eventually find their way into the general population for all the wanna bees and such.

I dont think that Ford intended that these wings were to hit the market. But a look around ebay shows that all kinds of disassembled TT car parts wound up surfacing and being up for sale.

I'm going to reach out to the mfg of the wings and see how they feel about these items coming to market in scrap condition. I would be surprised if they commented.

These suppliers have a very tight contract with OEM. I dont think they will be happy to hear about this.

I like to disassemble things.
Same guy that bought the OEM wing shown in post #123. He added an Anderson CF decklid as well.

I looked into that and at the time my good 'ol pals at AC said that the decklid would not support the wing and the downforce it generates at speed.

I hope the person who did this knew what they got themselves into. Who knows, maybe just another C/C JO
