You're right, the Mustang and Corvette aren't competitors but I would say the GTD is.
As for the GTD, yes I do think they will compete but as I’ve said in some other threads, it’s not exactly the same. You can roll up to your local Chevy dealer and buy a ZR1 off the lot (if they have one) or order one. You cannot do such a thing with the GTD. It is a truly limited production car that is only available via application, whereas the Vette’s production will only be limited by the number of buyers that want them/can afford them. So while GTD is technically a production car, it’s not along the same lines as the Vette. At least that’s the way I view it, I’m sure some see it differently.
That said, if the ZR1 takes down the GTD on track, that’s not a good look for Ford/Multimatic at all. Embarrassment is probably the proper word if that happens
