  1. How do you no-trailer guys handle the logistics of a breakdown at the track?

Totally agree, no trophies, no records or $$ prizes. I've driven from SC to Road America twice, both times for 3-day events (in another brand of vehicle) and was no problem either and it's an even longer trek. Nothing is fool-proof but most modern, unmodified cars are pretty reliable.
  2. How do you no-trailer guys handle the logistics of a breakdown at the track?

You guys are not confidence inspiring. I'm about to drive 1,000 miles each way to a track event.
  3. What's In DFB's Cabinet?

Anyone like this Sonax stuff anymore? Used it for the first time in over a year and leaves a nice, smooth finish. If some product is better than this, what now supercedes this product? Thanks
  4. Track Tool Kit

My list, this is the "big" kit for 2-3 day track event (can't bring everything so it's s compromise) 1)) Mini-low profile floor jack 2) Plywood for floor jack (most tracks don't want you to use jack stand or jacks without a plywood piece underneath to protect the asphalt). 3) Good quality tire...
  5. Rear tow hook/strap install

Well done! I like it. :)
  6. Mach 1 as a dual purpose street-track car (DE)

For those of you who are track junkies, would like to point out these AJ Hartmann brake deflectors. Firstly, I think they have NO utility for street only cars and you're not going to see the carbon fiber as it's obviously under the car. This CMP track, which used to be home base for me and has...
  7. Mach 1 as a dual purpose street-track car (DE)

Couple pictures of the wear items. Front rotor, yes they got hot but still run completely consistent from beginning to end of session. Left front tire, the one that has the most abuse. Looks pretty good to me, 6, 20 minute sessions. Cold pressure 31, hot 37, seems to be pretty good happy medium.
  8. Mach 1 as a dual purpose street-track car (DE)

Front and rear springs are Eibach coil-over springs. They are from AJ Hartman front coil-over kit and Mike Maier rear coil-over kit. Fronts are actually 325. Yes front bar is full-stiff, rear is non-adjustable "soft" rear bar. For my style of driving and tracks I run, I think I have a...
  9. Mach 1 as a dual purpose street-track car (DE)

Missed my VIR event in March due to some suspension mechanical issues of my own doing. Today ran CMP (Carolina Motorsports Park, Kershaw, SC) with BMW club. Only 23 of us which makes for plenty of space on track. Weather was perfect, but the Eclipse was not that impressive where we were. Ran...
  10. Mach 1 M6150

This might not be your "cup of tea" yet but these coil-over spring set-ups are more cost effective, in the long run, and easy to change ride height and spring poundage. I have a front and rear set up. If you do a lot of track work you'll eventually want something substantially stiffer that...
  11. AJ Hartman Aero's GT350 Build

Hey AJ, Sorry to see your video but that's the life of track cars sometimes. I was supposed to be at VIR today, but I'm sitting at home because of suspension fault, drive modes not available and speed limited to 80 mph. Should have done my shake-down run a few days ago, but life got in the way...
  12. Mach 1 as a dual purpose street-track car (DE)

Mounted and torqued. Camber is -3.5 degrees. Really good wheel and tire fit. Toe set to 0.0, this is my track set-up.
  13. Mach 1 as a dual purpose street-track car (DE)

Air loss is highly variable. Worst wheel was 2 psi per day, slow leakers lose 1 psi per week. Needless to say, pretty annoying. The SM-10 wheels were mounted on Feb 6th and were pumped up to 40 psi, today (I hadn't checked them since mounting) today is at 14 psi. Maybe next time maybe we can...
  14. Mach 1 as a dual purpose street-track car (DE)

If there's one downside to Apex wheels it's that sometimes the tire does not seal. It may be just a Michelin thing but I've had it with the VS-5 wheel and Michelin PS4S with 3 out of 4 wheels and now only one (thankfully) of my SM-10s with new Michelin Cup2 tires (no road use at all). I'm...
  15. Track Setup for Mach 1 - What Wheel/Tire Combo can you recommend?

Really old school but WAAAY too dangerous. I’ve done it too, but without the fuel. Not worth the risk. I’m of the opinion find a decent dual purpose track-street tire and drive that to your events. No one is winning any trophies, if you are time-trialing that’s a different group and you’ll...
  16. Mach 1 as a dual purpose street-track car (DE)

Hey, Marc, hope you are good. It must be that darn Walmart "racing" brake fluid! Really, it's PFC 665 which I've had good luck with. Looking forward to ShelbyFest!
  17. Mach 1 as a dual purpose street-track car (DE)

Prepping car for VIR and just did brake fluid change and flush. Not seen this before but both in-board bleeder screws were clogged and wouldn't flow. Probably partly my fault. I generally change brake fluid (complete) once a year and I'm now at 11 months, BUT, I didn't follow my usual of just...
  18. Lightning Lap 2024 - DH edges Mach 1 by .2 sec

YES. My experience and gears would be for full course, not the grand course they are running.
  19. Lightning Lap 2024 - DH edges Mach 1 by .2 sec

The Dark Horse puts in a respectable performance. The auto trans is an advantage to the manual for a one lap max effort. The Mach 1 6 speed is using, at most, gears 2-5 for VIR (I tend to run gears 3-5), so only 4 gears, the auto trans 7th gear is same as Tremec 5th gear. The auto, based on...
  20. Transmission fluid recommendation for manual?

I followed the instructions provided by OPMustang which does not mention that procedure. I don't think there's any practical way to drain the trans cooler, but now after two changes I think the amount of stock Ford fluid remaining is minimal if any, and functionally it works just fine.
