looks like i may be making a bad financial decision in a few years

No, I don't like the DCT in the GT500. I'm also not a blower person. I think it's a cool car and I realize it's fast, but I don't want to buy one.So, not really feeling the new GT500 either because of the 7 speed DCT?
The automatics are the "go to" transmission these days. I had a 2013 Roush Stage 3 with the M6, it was fun. I understand where you're coming from though, but the automatics TRUMP the manuals these days. In both performance and personal preference aspects.
I will be looking for a slightly used C8 2LT after the Z06s come out. Hoping some will trade in for the Z06 and have a nice used car for me. Love my stang but for some reason a mid engine car is very appealing to me. And I actually like the way the C8 looks.
It looks like it will come out early 2021 so that will be about 12 months. People will have to start getting tired of them pretty quick. In the past, it has always been plenty of used one or two year old cars once the Z06 shows up. Since it looks like it will be a 2022 car, that may mean even more used 20-21 model year C8s become available.

I own an old Ford pickup with an automatic, but the reason for that is it's a plow truck. I prefer an automatic for plowing. Everything else I'd rather have a manual. It's just a lot more fun to drive.

The current kings of NA/liter off the top of my head are the 911 GT3 RS (520 hp 4 liters = 130 hp/liter), Ferrari 812 Superfast (789 hp 6.5 liters = 121 hp/liter), and the highest I can recall from memory is the Ferrari 458 Speciale (597 hp, 4.5 liters = 133 hp/liter). Given GM probably won't hit any of those values, but is likely to exceed the Voodoo hp/liter (101 hp/liter), I'd expect somewhere around 105-115 hp/liter with the newer more advanced tech. now compared to when the Voodoo was developed. 600 hp would be about 109 hp/liter. So I'd say that's a pretty safe estimate. I'd say it's very unlikely the GM engine will hit the hp/liter output of the German and Italian Supercars. I like the looks of the C7 Z06 better than than the C8 Z51, but I'll wait to see until the C8 Z06 comes out to decide on those two.700HP and a 5.5L NA would be ~127 HP/L, that seems kind of undoable. I mean, cars like the Aventador were ~106 HP/L, and close to 700 but also 6.5L, and __way__ more expensive. The Huracan was 115, that's getting up there. The Voodoo at 5.5 L, just using "dumb math" is ~556HP (as more of a lower-end type design target).
I predict if this really winds up being NA, it'll be in somewhere between 605 and 620HP.
I think it's killer (if true) they're going back to NA for the Z06 - maybe they're reserving a ZR1 for the same FPC motor but with TT
Yeah, above when I wrote this:I'd expect somewhere around 105-115 hp/liter with the newer more advanced tech.
... that was 110 to around 112-113 HP/L, which is right in the middle of your range I think that's probably realistic, given the improvement in tech, but also factoring in the price, warranty, etc.I predict if this really winds up being NA, it'll be in somewhere between 605 and 620HP.
I agree that the C7 Z06 is a huge jump over the base C7 'Vette, but it had to be a huge jump in order to surpass the performance of the C6 Z06. C6 Z06 was 505 hp and only 3,140 lbs. C7 Z06 was 650 hp and 3550 lbs. ~400 lbs heavier made for the need for much more power than the C6 Z06 to outperform it.Yeah, above when I wrote this:

The C7 was a pretty insane jump from the 460HP "regular" Vette to the 650HP Z06. I do wonder, just from a marketing position, if GM is OK with the Z06 HP being __less__ than the previous year. I mean, we get it, it's more about just a peak HP figure (especially with the huge change in everything: FPC, 32v, mid-engine, etc.), but that's tricky.
It does make the think they'd want to at the very least, match the C7, with a "All Natural" type marketing tagline, that's ~118 HP/L, doable, and yeah, maybe in 2022, that's not that big of a deal.
That's also got a MSRP of $3.2 million...38x that of the Z06.Aston Martin Valkyrie Engine Has 1,000hp NA. 154hp/Liter. That equate to a 770hp 5.0 liter NA.
To be clear, I wasn't saying that the C8Z06 wouldn't outperform the C7Z06 with equal, or even less HP, I was saying it's an interesting marketing task if it winds up with less. With the switch to ME, the C8 Z06 can outperform the C7 Z06 in every metric (except for maybe 1/4 mile trap speed and even that will be very close with the DCT and ~600 hp) with less hp. I suspect because of the choice to go NA, the C8 Z06 will be lighter than the C8 Z51, just like the C6 Z06 was lighter than the base C6 (unlike the C7 Z06 which was heavier than the base C7 because of the Supercharger and all the upgrades necessary to support that massive amount of extra power).
11,100 RPM redline, hahahaha, holy shit, but yeah, that's not a spec you find in a $125K vehicleThat's also got a MSRP of $3.2 million...38x that of the Z06.
