“Expensive” is subjective…. $100k is expensive to some, just as $30k is to others….

Whatever the decision is, never get upside down in a car (meaning, have enough $$$ that you can afford the car, the fuel, maintenance, the insurance and lastly the “whoopsie” when the block gets ventilated and there’s no warranty to cover it —— ). Be happy, don’t be car poor….

As mentioned too - the days of getting “bank” for used cars is 2-3 years too late…. The market has bottomed out and people got smarter (imagine that) and aren’t paying ridiculous 2x-3x inflated above market prices for used vehicles. If you do get what you paid (whatever that value is…), you’ll be lucky.

I’ve seen quite a few M6Gers jump from a Mustang into a Vette, Porsche, and Supra…. as well as a slew of other vehicles, so test drive some vehicles and see what fits. Sometimes the vehicle looks great, has great performance specs, but once you get in it and drive it a bit, the physical experiences may not be as great as the looks and online hub-bub.
Agree,

love our ‘17 California Special. Also have a ‘15 C7 vert which sits a lot.

C7 interior is tighter than the C5 and C6 were. Power convertible top on C7 is sort of silly.
I love the look and sound of the GT350 but 12 mpg won’t cut it when I get 22 with the 17.

At 74 the 17 is enough. Can always add a super charger.

There’s no car out there worth being penniless over. Not in today’s

That 12 mpg is only if you drive it like you stole it all the time or just in town. At 63k miles, my tripmeter for the life of the car is at 19.6.
That’s great. Better than most SUV’s.
Geez, I grew up with station wagons 🙄

thanks

I've owned a GT350R for the last few years. I've been on the wait list for a Z06 for a long time and I decided I would like to know for sure that any C8 was worth the wait. So, last year, I bought a used C8 HTC 3LT Z51.

Both cars have been to the track - the Mustang for some HPDE time at Lime Rock and Watkins Glen and others; the C8 went to my local track where I take all my new-to-me cars. My first impression of the C8 was ho-hum, but so was my first time in the Shelby, before I beefed up the rear subframe. The most definitive things I can say is that the brakes are superior on the Shelby, and shifting with fingertips instead of the left leg/right arm combo will take some getting used to.

The Shelby is my only Mustang experience since the 60's, so it's not really apples to apples. For me, two very different cars, for different purposes. If I want a great day at the track slamming gears and an occasional car show - Mustang. If I want to take a nice relaxing top-down ride to the mountains or shore with the wife, and an occasional car show - C8. For now, I am keeping both, but I don't think I will pay another $70K to 'move up' to a new Z06. The novelty of the mid-engine has worn off, which in retrospect is what it was all about to begin with. And I already have a flat-plane engine :). In the end, the C8 is still a Chevy.

My 22 Mustang GT is premium with all the features and i can sell it for almost what i paid, but the base c8 is pretty stripped down feature wise and they say you should get the 2LT and i dont think the z51 package is worth it but even 2lt c8 is about 78k and I never spent that much on a car before and idk if its worth it I feel like at that price i would rather have a GT500 cause even if its slower it still has the utility of back seats that can be folded down to carry stuff

otherwise what car would be a step up from mustang GT but cheaper than c8 or gt500?
Do it. I did Its a different world. I do not wear jorts and new balance shoes.

C8's are ugly and unless you bought your Mustang at half price, i doubt it.

Doesn't matter, when they removed the stick shift from the stingray all my interest exited faster than the speed of light. I even went backwards in time for just a moment.

But if automatics are your thing, then no, it isn't too expensive.
