Very impressive, except for the cost.

Do it for half the price and I'll really be impressed.

Ford didn't/couldn't do it for more! (GTD)
But I don't think these cars are comparable. And I don't believe the ZR1X can do everything the GTD is built to do, like track all day long.

Probably true! But, Chevy builds the ZR1X and Ford itself does not build the GTD. Also, the ZR1X is not a limited productions vehicle like the GTD.

I'm not sure how that matters.

Ford wanted to build a special car based on their racing series car, just to be cool.

Chevy wanted to take their car to the next level and compete with different level of vehicle and changed the game on all the Vette's that came before it.

The GTD is literally our car at the core, with a bunch of pieces sliced off and a whole lot added. It is not a clean sheet design like the C8 was.
The C8 is a whole new gen designed for performance.

The GTD has some of the same parts as a base eco boost.

Ford worked with what they got, GM invested billions taking it to another level.

So it's not comparable what these cars were intended to do at all, I'd say. Two completely different intents and goals and effort spent.

GM also spent billions more $$$ and many more years to get here than Ford did. This ZR1X was written about as twisting the frame and breaking its rear glass in testing like 4-5 years ago now. They spent a fortune on this car, it better be amazing.

Less lol? Th gtd is like $300k and anyone can order one and a lot of dealers have them at basically msrp.. A regular zr1 is 200+k at any dealer. A X isn’t even able to be bought unless you suck off a top dealer that can maybe get one and your payin $400k. The Zr1’s are basically like a Porsche 911 GT3 as in you will never find one near its msrp. I dont care what Chevy says the “msrp” of the zr1 and x are cause they are double if not more. So this argument of which one costs less is totally irrelevant.. both are great cars. The gtd is not a great drag car though which some guys are buying it for (mainly YouTubers lol) where the corvette is right now just about the fastest OEM drag car ever made lol.

This is false. It’s an application process for the GTD. They’re only making like 1,000 of them and over 7,000 applied for one. All allocations are spoken for and there is a waitlist if someone drops out. You have to be selected by Ford to get one and they are not produced and sent to dealers to sell off the lots. So no, not just anyone can order one.

You are correct that they are sold for MSRP (by most, haven’t heard otherwise yet), the dealers that take delivery of them are paid a fee from Ford for doing so.

I’m not a 1/4 mile guy so I don’t really care about 1/4 times. It’s impressive but doesn’t move me one way or the other.

ZR1 doesn’t fit my wallet nor does the GTD, but having seen both in up close, the GTD has more presence IMO. Yeah, it’s heavy (heavier than it really should be IMO), but to put down the numbers it does at its weight is pretty impressive.

ZR1 is equally impressive, 1,000+ hp from a production line car is awesome. Maybe it’s a different feeling in a ZR1 (I’ll probably never get the opportunity to drive one so will have to rely on others), but the regular C8 is such a sterile car. Performs great but for me there’s no emotion to it. Mustangs (heck, even C6 & C7 Vette’s) put a big shit-eating grin on my face whenever I drive one. That, to me, is part of the whole experience. The C8 doesn’t do that for me. Maybe the ZR1 would, but I’ll probably not have the opportunity to know for sure.

My $0.02 ✌
