After they were installed the noise from the differential is so loud now that to the point where your ears are ringing. Is this normal or do I need to rebuild my differential with new bearings ?

What does the differential noise that you’re hearing sound like? Is it clunking or whining? I have the Steeda ones and I do get some vibration and noise between 40-50 mph and 80-90 mph, but once I drive through those speeds it clears up.

Have you lowered the car and changed the pinion angle? If so, perhaps that could be a huge contributing factor to the excessive noise.

I installed them and had in increase in NVH. Increase in diff whine on stock rear end. Should be expected though.

the car has always been on BMR drag springs but just recently added differential bushings and vertical links I know the links won’t make that noise but it’s very loud coming from the diff it’s also clunking

Does it make the clunking and whining at takeoff and/or all speeds? Any chance you can post a video of the sound?

If you actually want help here, then take the time to list ALL your mods. No one can help you figure things out if we don't know what the situation is with your car.

Sounds like you've messed around with your car until you broke it. Drag springs, vertical links, and now diff bushings (and what else??). Somehow you've created a mechanical situation the car can't handle. This is why you do one mod at a time, not 2 or 3.

If the noise is "loud whining", diff bushings and vertical links isn't going to cause a "whine". They'll cause lots of clunking and increased NVH felt through the floor or body, but not a "whine".

My guess is you have issues with the rear diff (pinion bearing or the gears), or rear hub bearings going bad.

Diff bushings are the problem. I did the aluminum ones, whine is noticable around 20-30 that gets louder and frequency increases with speed. I get clunks at low speed power on and off, when there is slack in the drive line. I had the pumpkin rebuild with new gears and bearings, slightly quieter but not enough to justify $1000. I have quit trying to fix it. Seems the only option is the 9" replacement or go back to stock.

Lowering an S550 shouldn't change that pinion angle.

OP, an increase in NVH is very common. Especially if you used a durometer material.

Right on armykyle1, that’s good to know. The OP definitely has something big going on. He sent me a video of the noise coming from his diff. and it howls like a werewolf. I have lots of Steeda hardcore rear suspension parts and I don’t have the issue that he has. Hopefully he gets it sorted out without too much trouble.

If it’s howling like that, sounds like internal diff failure, either pinion bearing or gears.

Like I said above previously, doing a bushing upgrade to his IRS isn’t going to cause whining or the howling inside the cabin as being described…. Increased NVH due to aftermarket bushing design and composition sure, but not whining or howling from the diff…

Sure it will, all differentials make noise, by using solid bushings you give a pathway for that vibration to make it to the chassis of the car. Now if you can hear it from outside the car then yeah, something is broke lol
