I'm about to change the transmission fluid in my 2020 Mustang GT's MT82. I saw this kit offered by OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE RACING LLC. Basically, the kit includes everything you need, along with the exact amount of fluid the transmission requires (according to what I've read, but I imagine it includes a little more).

I'd like to know if anyone here has tried this kit and what their opinion is. I've had the Mustang since the end of April and I've never changed the transmission fluid. According to the previous owner, he changed it according to the intervals in the manual, but I don't have any information to confirm this.

I also don't want to mess it up, since I live in a country where it's difficult to find replacement parts for these cars at a good price (Dominican Republic).

Thanks for your time.

I've seen that the kit may include an MGC Additive. Do you think it's necessary to add this additive, or is BG Shift II oil sufficient?

I'm gonna caveat my opinion with I have the 3160, but I wasn't happy with the BG kit from OP. OP does an awesome job of sending everything you need. The fluid change is super easy, they have clear instructions, and in general, OP makes it absolutely as easy as possible.

In my case, with the BG fluid, the shifts just weren't as smooth as the stock fluid. I really hoped after a few sessions, it would smooth back out, but it never did. I ended up swapping fluid after one track day.

Just to clarify. OP is awesome, second to none on customer service. But I think for a track car, there are better fluid out there. If you are street driving, I am certain it will be more than sufficient for your needs, and OP send all the stuff you need to make the fluid change painless.

Since I only use it normally, maybe the BG is perfect for that type of use, as you mentioned.

caveat with ymmv as you are in a different country....

I did mine in december and almost ordered this kit but it was a few $$ cheaper to buy 3 quarts off amazon and the separate fill pump and I didn't have to pay for shipping. overall saved me around $20 iirc and delivered much quicker than they would have.

not disappointed with the product as my car just hit 36k so it was time but it was not the "magic bullet" that some have spoken to on here. I did not do any other additives and would not if I did it again. after literally hours of research online I decided that bg was good enough.
cars and coffee ride and as WItoTX mentions, if I was race/track I might have went a different path.

I went with this kit (and the one for the rear diff) years ago, zero complaints or guessing with it.

The trans oil eliminated the 1-2 nibbling that it had with the factory fill. Like butter since.

I used the BG kit from OP including the additive and was completely satisfied. The amount sent was perfect for the level fill. There is a little left over. They include a measuring cup to pour the left over into, so you can verify the unused fluid is the correct amount.

For my regular street driving, the BG Syncro Shift smoothed out the shifting quite noticeably and significantly reduced the notchy shift from 2nd to 3rd.

I put this in mine about two years ago. I don't love it more than the OEM really, if I had to choose again I would probably try the MOTUL DCTF I believe it is, or go back to OEM fluid.

I did not notice any real improvement with BG2 and on cold mornings it is worse and stiffer than stock fluid. I daily drive in winter so that's a bit of a negative.

Used the BG Synchroshift and thought it was better than stock. Changed to Red LIne Oil MT-LV and it shifts even better. The MT-LV meets Ford spec WSS-M2C200-D2 for the MT-82.

Bought the Calimer stage 2 transmission this spring and I am still doing the break in miles, Calimer sent the Motul and I have the BG ready to go in when I get the break in miles on. I have read good things about it. I guess I will find out. I found the oil cheaper without the pump. I made my own pump years ago. It allows me to measure the amount before I fill then I just plug my airline to it and open the valve 3-5 seconds it is done.
