Most people's second mod after a catch can is exhaust. So I don't think it's really a big deal. But OP, nothing says you can't add it later if you really want it. When I drive normal even in track mode my (currently stock) exhaust isn't that loud. "Regular" Mustang exhaust sound is still better in my opinion than all exhausts except the Dodge Hemi. That sounds glorious.

I think its Just another electric mechanical thing to give you problems in the future....just saying
Yes, they can and they do give problems. That’s one of the reasons why I pulled mine and relocated the actuators. The passenger side actuator harness is known for rubbing against the pinch weld and shorting out against it. That’s something else to keep in mind about running a factory AE. Ford could have done a better job on this and provided more clearance. I ended up having to de-pin and repair my passenger side harness because no one had another harness in stock. The repair turned out great and now I’ll never have to worry about that issue resurfacing like it does for many. For those of you who have AE and like it, enjoy it, but if you see a light appear on the dash and it stops working, it may be time to dive in and repair it like I did here (see post #9).

I love it. Drive mostly in quiet to be kind to other people. Put it in Track mode when I want the noise and I'm not in a residential area.

I try real hard not to give all Mustang owners a bad name.

Quite mode talk is interesting. My Harley Davidson is not quiet and no one says anything about the noise on start up. Now I don't sit and throttle the thing in garage or driveway. Challenger doesn't have it. I too am curious is this is really something that is used after 6 months or more of ownership
They may not say it, but all your neighbors HATE hearing it.

You have found out from this thread that 99% of all orders/cars have the Active Exhaust is way off. You will find you have plenty of friends out there with:
1. No AE
2. Headers
3. X or H pipes
4. Cat back systems
5. All of the above

Slap on a cat back and you can " Be loud and be proud!" Heck, you made the right choice , you ordered a Mustang when you could have ordered a Camaro --- then you would have plenty of friends telling you your car is ugly and who cares about your exhaust, ha!

My 20 pp1 did not have active exhaust or magnaride. I ended up replacing the springs, shocks and struts with the ford track pack stuff and putting in an h pipe. It sounds and handles great now and since I never had those two options don’t miss them.

It is worth it as an $895 option. Not so much as a $2000 aftermarket add on. Order it from the factory. Or forget it IMO.

Living in the inner City and the coming noise laws make it pretty desirable to me.

I didn't have it on my 18 GT, and if I were ordering a new car and it was an option not to have it, I would go that way. My Shelby has it, but I wouldn't care if it didn't. The first thing I do when I start the car is put it in loud mode. I've never driven it on the quiet setting.

I did not get it. I knew i was going to install a aftermarket exhaust anyway and i didnt care about having it be quiet. I didnt put a super loud cat back on anyway. And i didnt want the hassle of the valves faulting and not working.

I desperately wanted AE when I was shopping. I just couldn't find the right deal on a leftover 2020 with the option. Disappointed, but the price I ended up paying makes it ok. Got in a few months before the chip shortage exploded the market.

I work odd hours being in I.T. and live in a very quiet neighborhood so I went with AE just to be polite to my neighbors. No option for that with the '67 but I don't go firing it up at 3 am, normally.

Never even considered it. I don’t want a quiet Mustang and I knew I was gonna swap out the exhaust when I took delivery of my car. My circumstance is a bit different than others though, to each their own.
