  1. How does your GT run on regular gas?

I feel for you guys on the Coasts as the spread for us in a lot of the Midwest seems to be in the 30-60 cent range from 87 to Premium. I actually fill up at one Station that is 93 Octane and it is usually only around 30 cents higher than the plebeian 87 stuff. It was at $4.04 the other day...
  2. Dealer can’t program key fob because of tune?

I used the word " could " and working in the Automotive Business 30+ years I have seen it happen with Fords, GMs, Stellantis products , etc. A tune changes many things and the warranty is based on what each manufacturer established with the EPA and more. Plug in a tuned vehicle at some State's...
  3. Oil Filter Shortage?

I agree on the filter use for the GT350s and GT500s, yet I know of no issue with using a Ford Performance oil filter for a 5.0 since it is a conventional canister type and in essence is just a better filter for the motor. I understand your caution, it is well taken for the new filter along with...
  4. Dealer can’t program key fob because of tune?

Having seen a zillion tunes come into the shop over the years it is quite likely to be causing a problem. Folks assume anyone can figure out the tune, but there are Performance Shops who do their own set up, and actually keep it proprietary and it is virtually impossible for someone else to...
  5. Oil Filter Shortage?

Tomster, I noted that I incorrectly stated information that was for the 5.0 and not the 5.2. The Fl820 is for the 5.0 , it is a Ford Performance Racing filter, and it replaces the FL 500S. Many guys tracking their Mustangs ( with the 5.0 ) have been scrounging to find the FL 820 as it also is in...
  6. Issue with mach 1

First things first, since it is under warranty take the car to the Dealer, then ask the Service Writer who will be working on your car? When he tells you , ask him politely if you could chat with the Tech for a minute. Let the tech know you are a serious Gearhead and to please take care of your...
  7. Oil Filter Shortage?

Tomster, I corrected that I added the note on a Ford Performance Race Filter for the 5.0, and was incorrect since the post is about the 5.2, but to suggest that Ford would void a warranty due to someone using the designated race filter for a 5 liter for an oil change is completely wrong. Not...
  8. Base GT track day limits

nbjeeptj, You must be a young man NB, as I am lucky if I don't pee 3 times between sessions, but drinking a ton of fluids is super important. I push this advice on to every student I have since I have seen a couple of 20 year olds actually pass out on the track at speed over the years. In both...
  9. Oil Filter Shortage?

Sorry , filters are short with both 5.0s and 5.2s and I should have been more specific. An FL820 is perfectly good for street use as plenty of guys use them and we even had a Tech Talk about them from Ford Engineers at the Mustang Roundup in Hastings, Ne. years back.
  10. Oil Filter Shortage?

Lethal Performance , CJ Pony Parts and a few others have the FL820 race filter in stock. I just got a couple from Lethal Performance late yesterday. Hope this is helpful?
  11. How bad is the damage

Doug, I am stating I said nothing for you to quote me and then discuss bondo and dentless repair. Your response to what I wrote made no sense so I questioned your use of it. I fully understand the process, as I spent 10 years in the Insurance business, 30+ in Automotive Sales and Service and...
  12. Difference of octane boosters

Thanks for the note Lethal Performance since folks who track their cars are often looking for a quality booster since many tracks do not have fuel on site and stations near said tracks often only has 91 Octane. Pretty common knowledge from Ford Literature and their Trackrat Engineers that 93...
  13. How bad is the damage

To be frank DougS550 I have no idea why you are using my quote as I am not talking anything about ventless repair or bondoing the rear quarter. Frankly I would not accept a putty and dent popping situation and frankly it is too far gone to try and do dent removal. Sorry, I am confused at your...
  14. lost funnel to add gas from a cannister

The filler tube is essentially for emergency use and is often the exact tube for many manufacturers. Most of the new additive bottles , etc. should fit right in the capless filler tube with no real issues if you are careful. Filling with fuel is a different matter and then it helps to get a...
  15. Base GT track day limits

No problem, and remember to always pee before you spend 25 minutes at speed on track!
  16. Anyone else not get active exhaust?

Active exhaust ----- 1. Track or Sport mode whenever I am in the car. 2. Quiet mode whenever my wife is in the car, and she likes the Mach so keeping her happy means when I buy race tires she just says, " Ok, honey, I like this Mustang." Quiet mode is an active reason my wife thinks the car is...
  17. Mach 1 M6150

Congrats from another Mach 1 owner, and be patient during those first 1000 miles of break-in , the siren song at full chat is worth the wait, and the Mach really has the " Speed of Sound. " It breaks the Sound barrier every time you drive it -- glorious is the word, you don't need no stinking radio!
  18. Mach 1 HP

I have no doubt the Mustang gets a ton of looks in Jolly Ole England, and it should. Surprisingly, to some, the Mustang garners plenty of attention in the US with it's niche models ( Mach 1s, Bullitts, GT 350s, GT500s, Boss 302s, etc. ) because many folks here feel they are quite attainable...
  19. Mach 1 HP

I can understand the issue with a flat , and if you do not occasionally track your car I would say the larger tyres are not a concern. If you want to go to Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Knockhill Raceway, etc. for a driving event, those sizes are the secret weapon to dominate your friends. I think...
  20. 2022 California Special Convertible on sale in Europe

When I hear friends here in the USA whine about various automotive options and rules I tend to have them look into the situation in Europe and around the World. We really have it pretty good here and I know the sound regulation throughout the European Continent has been in force for decades ,but...
