I get what you're saying and ultimately agree, but I'm also a parking lot junky, so I'm limited to an oddly large spoiler (Did anyone request a Big 10"?) and wings are no-no's. Yes, I could have a separate lash-up between HPDE and autocross, but for what? Am I going to win a track day, LOL!?!That's the one!
I understand you want just a bit of downforce to stabilize the rear end but honestly, I would skip the spoilers or anything smaller than a full size wing.
With a spoiler, there is no room for growth. You'll want to go bigger eventually and then the spoiler was just wasted money.
My overall goal is to make a couple easy to swap pieces which make me relatively sporty in CAM and give a bit of aero stability/lift reduction on a big track. Then I pop them off when on the street because they're easy to curb and look like hell. I understand the ceiling on this approach is pretty limited in terms of ultimate performance, but there is *some* logic (even if warped) around it.
