CJ Pony Parts used to sell the Magnaflow resonated x-pipe, they now have their own branded Accelatec Resonated X-Pipe. Anyone install it with the rest being stock?

Looking to get more volume from the stock active setup, like something between the stock resonator and full x-pipe (or h-pipe). Reading about the Magnaflow one, it seems it didn't make much difference with stock mufflers. Probably Accelatec option is the same and I don't want to cut things up for not much change.

Has anyone installed this? I can’t find information on this product other than that listed on cj pony part’s page; I hope cj comes out with a video or a forum member weighs in.

I order it, but it is on backorder and suppose to ship first week of September. I think it is actually a rebranded Gibson Performance resonated x-pipe with extension pipes to fit in place of the resonator: https://gibsonperformance.com/gi-195955-cft-superflow-oval-muffler.html. They both refer to the convergent flow technology in their description.
If it looks good and I install it, will take some sound comparison video clips with a decibel meter.

I've been looking at resonated H/X pipes (was thinking about the GT350 resonator) so definitely interested to find out how this setup will sound

Good eye,
409 SS
It’s still close to a true X and it’s going to have that Gibson metallic sound.
It’s not going to flow as well as an H or Sweep X crossover.

Here are a couple of links to videos of my 22 GT with a resonated GT350 x-pipe. Let me know if these iCloud links work. Stock active mufflers - stock headers too.

Video 1
Video 2

edit: both in track mode

Sounds amazing! Question tho - can't tell from the vids but does that resonator retains the "chopping/alternating pulse" sound that comes with the stock resonators?

I'm honestly not sure how that sounds. You have any video of it? And i can take a similar video to show you how it sounds now.

I'll see if I can find a clip that showcase this, but it's a cool sound that, from what I've heard from others, some exhaust setup eliminates this which I don't want

Got the Accelatec today. It looks exactly like the Gibson design with chamfered pipes in an X configuration inside an empty (no fiberglass) muffler like casing. The chamfers open towards the inlet side. In some ways, probably is more restrictive than stock resonator, but does give a very non restrictive way for one side to cross to the other. Here are some picks comparing the length to a Steeda H-pipe and from the inside using a scope. Still on the fence about cutting the stock resonator.

A look on the inside, at the cross section of the X from the inlet side.

Finally installed it over the weekend. First impressions are that the exhaust is now more boomy at idle and while driving in track mode, inside the cabin I hear this new kind of hollow/howling sound. Did not wind it out and drove only for a few miles, but I think I lost some of the pops and the mids at higher RPM may actually be a bit quieter than stock. Comparing cold starts with a sound meter app shows negligible increase (a tenth of a dB). Overall, just gives it a unique sound. You be the judge. Attaching two sound clips of cold starts (you get some bird sounds as a bonus). First is the stock. There are some sound artifacts as I converted from FLAC to MP4 and uploaded to site. Would I do this all again? Not sure.

Edit: After driving it for some more, track mode sounds quieter compared to stock. Normal mode seems louder as I hear more sound come out around the resonator area, which is most pronounced around the 2k range. Revving it, it kind goes quite (compared to what I remember with stock).

Overall, this resonator gave it a unique tone. From inside the cabin at lower RPM, the exhaust sound is more pronounced. At higher RPM, quieter than stock. Have no idea if it is more restrictive or if the internal X configuration gives similar benefits to a standard X-pipe, but that's for someone else to figure out.

I went to an Accelatec x-pipe a few weeks back. Wanted to go back to something louder and I missed the more pronounced crackles and pops on deceleration that I had with the stock resonator. It was a direct replacement and for reference, measured about 32.75 inches from one end of the inlet pipe to the end of the longest outlet (the two outlet pipes are not exactly the same length). Not 40" inches that the support at CJ told me. One of the reasons I went with Accelatec again, as I thought they had a different size, but turns out 32.75" is fairly common for the ones with the expanded connections.
