Wow! You really don't get it.
I don't ? Glad your here to tell me that.

The Getrag is manufactured in china.
Really eh ? My (2017) Getrag MT82 was manufactured in France, your Magna International MT82 was manufactured in one of 25 or so countries. IF your gonna criticize.. at least get the facts straight-ish.

Awesome. I am glad you have a great transmission. You must be one of those with no transmission problems. From my understanding, the transmissions in question are ones manufactured from the Chinese plant. Read these and you understand what the issue is.

I am on the fence about repair because I will loose any warranty repair. Here is another forum thread that seems promising.

That’s a great thread! I didn’t know anyone had done that swap.
I’m already committed to trying to improve upon my MY82-D4 though. So far, I’ve purchased all of the necessary tools for disassembly/reassembly. I‘ve spent for $1,489 in tools, shift forks and a Calimer counter weight block off plate. I’m praying that once I pull it and get it disassembled, all of the hard parts (gears and shafts are in perfect condition). I say this because I did get locked out on 1-2 shifts several times at the track. I also experienced grind on the 2nd and 3rd gear shifts once. I don’t see me getting out of this project for any less than $6K with a clutch.

What clutch and driveshaft are you running? How high do you spin the motor and do you have no lift shift capability with the aid of a WOT Box?
I am running a Mcloed RXT kit. Stock driveshaft, no wot box.
While tuning the car, I have ran to 8k; however, I typically shift in the 7400-7600 range.

Has anyone definitively explained what the counterweight does? Ford spent a lot of $$ to design and implement the part, it must have solved some problem (and maybe created others).

For one, some one can use that to just change your car to neutral and just roll your car away.
I heard but I don't know if it's true that irlts not needed. I too would like to know about it.

I‘ve heard people say that the RXT clutch was too harsh for a factory MT82. Have you found there to be any truth to that, or is it a myth that’s been busted? Which clutch material did you go with (orgs if or cerametallic)?

Here is a reply that I received regarding the counter weight from Lashbrook Built Performance Transmissions:

”Eliminating that massive shift counterweight usually alleviates the broken shift fork problems associated with the D4s.”

Ford fixed the problem by replacing the forks with stronger units starting in the 2019 model year. 18's were replaced under warranty.

I have a brand new 2022 GT with manual and been driving manuals for years.

When I first got the car and shifting fast into 3rd gear I would get a grind. Then I slowed down a bit and made sure the clutch was to the floor in between shifts. That seemed to make it go away, but also makes me more cautious (less fun).

I have been running this kit:

kit:https://www.beefcake racing.com/mcleod-6333825m/

I love the engagement of the clutch. It is not grabby, noisy or harsh at all. I was careful breaking it in however. I had read that too prior to buying but believe it to be inaccurate at least based o y experience. Great clutch imo.

I’ve heard that, but was wondering if that covered all 2019 Mustangs? I recently looked on the door sticker and my car was built in Jan. of 2019. I’ll know for sure once I pull mine. I’ll report back with my findings once I get to that point. The replacement was back to metal shift forks right?
