I would do some research on the magnum xl I have heard that they have problems with the input bearing and gear wearing out and causing a whining sound.

From what I can tell (and correct me if Im wrong), the Magnum XL is a Tremec T56. I have had one in my '68 Camar RS/SS Big block at ~700hp for years with zero issue. Smooth as butter still, and I do 'exercise' it quite often. (but do not beat on it). Please dont banish me from the Mustang forums because I own a Camaro :D

Magnum xl is a T56 with a longer tail housing for the s197s and s550s.

I have personally seen 2 of these have the problems that I mentioned, I believe it is due to the quick time bell housing not being dialed in correctly. I put a call into Ben Calimer and he had also seen what I did and he recommended the TR6060 as a better option, maybe there was a bad run of bell housings for quick time.
