Started searching tire rack again for winter wheel options, (planning ahead) and comparing prices i think i will go with another set of 19x9 ford performance pack wheels like i have now on summer setup. they only cost like $50 or so more dollars than enkei's would and not whole lot more than 18's. for tire size would it be better to stick to the factory size of 255/40 19 or go with a 235/45 19 or 245/45 19? & has anyone had experience with the vredestein wintrac pro tire? has good reviews and good price and only one listed for 255/40 19 at the moment, thanks!

I would try to avoid buying the FP wheels. They are extremely heavy and rather expensive for a set of non forged wheels. I'd look into some SVE wheels or Apex.

If the PP wheels are a non negotiable then stay with the factory size 255/40/19 as a lot of tires have that size :like:

I run 235 on mine (stock 18x8 wheels for winter) with Bridgestone Blizzak WS90 tires. Tall, narrow tires do better in snow than shorter fatter tires do. The difference between 235 and 255 wouldn’t really be noticeable IMO so either one would work.

Toyo G3 Ice.. 245 fronts 275 rears. Unbelievably awesome winter tire ! Well worth the price of admission.

245 45 19 is preferable due to product availability. It depends on what you need, but here in New England a performance snow tire isn’t a great solution for the conditions during an actual storm. I’m on studded Hakkas and I’m not going back.

so you recommend 245/45 19 over the 255/40 19 ? slightly taller and narrower ? those fit fine on 19x9 wheels ? thanks

tire rack does offer more choices in 245/45 19, how would the michelin x-ice snow compare to bridgestone blizzak ws90 or the vredestein wintrac pro? i have had the blizzaks before and liked them but not the others.

I have not had the vredestines nor blizzak's but the X-Ice 3's I had on my Infinity G37 RWD were outstanding for snow/cold/ice and road manners. This is for Philly, different story vs. CT and New England. Not sure about KS conditions.

There are a few folks I know that run the X Ice here in Chicago and they don’t have any issues. I’ve never run them personally so I can’t speak from personal experience. I love my Blizzaks.

245/45's will fit on the 9.5" PP rears? Most 245's on tirerack say 9" max wheel.
(I am contemplating my own winter options here in Philly)
yeah 245/45 19 says maximum of 9 inch wide wheel, from what tire rack says, i would order all 19x9 's if i do decide to get them. the 255/40 19 would fit the 9.5 inch rears

Considering the wear rate of snow tires, to not be able to rotate is a very bad idea.

Yeah, but figured on dismounting and rotating tires to wheels every other year to even out front vs. back. I'm trying to find an endgame use for the 9x19, 9x9.5 staggered heavy stock wheels once I burn through the PZeros and go to a square 19x10 setup with decent summers after that.

I don't love the look of the stock PP wheels enough to get a second set of PP takeoff wheels to mix and run square 9x19 winter and 9.5x19 summer with the 5mm spacers in front. That is the cheapest option though I think.
