Hi guys, as the title says, I'm asking for input on wheel sizes. I know it's totally subjective. I do know I want a square setup. I have a 2020 California Special convertible. It's my daily driver. I'm retired but I do drive it at least 5 times a week. I'm not really liking the stock cs wheels. And I defiantly want a wider track. So I'm thinking 19x10 35mm offset or 20x10 35mm. I'm not going to do any suspension mods. Been there done that. The stock is fine for my old body. Lol. As far as tire sizes 275/40r19 or 285/35r20 is what I've been thinking. It would fill the gap pretty well. Fire away guys, so I can be even more confused. Lol

I think 19s is the most I would tolerate for a daily driver as you are going to sacrifice some ride quality with less sidewall.

I'm running 285/35/19 front and 305/35/19 rears and I wish I had 20s. The tire options are so much more for 20s over 19s. So keep that in mind as you make your decision.

I daily mine with 20’s and I’m looking around for some 19’s. Ride quality could be a lot better driving on these tank traps around here.

For performance you want the smaller wheel - lighter unsprung weight helps so many things. The smaller option will also give you better ride quality. To me it’s a no brainer but you also have to love the way it looks, so if you prefer the look of the 20’s that may be the way to go.

I had 20s on my Camaro, when the roads were smooth, it was fine but over bumpy and uneven roads, the ride quality really drops, (feeling those bumps in the lower back). However 20in wheels do look a lot nicer IMO. They fill in the wheel well nicely which makes the Mustang/Camaro look a lot better.

I daily and have kept the 19in wheel size. I lowered my car and went with 285s in the front and 305s on 10/11 inch wheels. Going this route achieves the 20in look (filling out the wheel well) while keeping some meat on the wheel and keeping the ride quality tolerable over those rough and uneven road surfaces.

20x10 +35 with 285/35/20 tires here on stock suspension. It really comes down to personal preference. I like that the 20’s fill the wheel well a little more and there’s enough sidewall that the ride is still quite good.

I have been toying with the idea of going to 19’s at some point but that would be done in conjunction with the Ford Performance track handling pack, which lowers the car ~1”.

As someone else mentioned, tire selection can also be an issue in certain sizes. Plenty of good choices in 275/40/19, 285/35/19 or 285/35/20 though.

i daily mine with 20s 275 35 20 and 305 30 20 , i do this 8 months out of the year and the other 4 have snow tires and 18s on it . IF i had to buy another set of wheels i would do 19s but for sure run 295s in the front and 305 or 315 in the rear just for some more sidewall to ride better, but these cars look good with 19s or 20s .

I'm also finding more wheel choices with the 20 inch. What made me question this is I pretty much was going to go with the 19 inch. I wanted the Velgen vf5. But they are on backorder till May. So I can wait. But they do have the vf5 in 20 inch in stock. I'm looking at the gloss bronze. So I'm trying to figure out what I want to do. I'm also looking at the Project 6GR TEN-D in magnesium, I can go 19 or 20 but there is a wait time for those also. I want the spun forged. Don't want to spend the money on forged. It's fun to be confused. Lol feel free to critique my choices. And to offer others.

The 6GR Ten-D looks pretty awesome. If you were willing to wait for the Velgen’s, I’d wait for the 6GR’s. Would be a unique look for sure, whereas there are plenty of Mustang’s running Velgen’s.

If you plan on leaving the suspension stock, I’d go with 20’s to fill in some of that wheel gap. The 20’s will be lighter than the stock Ford wheels too. Not by a ton because you’re going up in size but you’ll save a few lbs per wheel

The Velgen is an awesome wheel. I had a set of VF5's on my 22 GT and they looked phenomenal... Gunmetal though :)
