As some already know, the group cruise up Palomar mountain did not go well for some of us.
Shortly after leaving the meeting point, there was an accident at an intersection. A driver of a black 2015 Mustang GT was momentarily distracted and struck a red 2007 Mustang GT, who in turn struck me.
Although the black Mustang’s driver’s steering wheel and knee airbags deployed, there were no serious injuries. The black Mustang was completely totaled (edit: apparently repairable somehow). Both the red Mustang and mine were still able to be driven away.
My Mustang suffered severe rear end damage, the crash bar and trunk pan of the unibody were pushed in (as far as I can tell initially).
I have all parties’ information, and there’re is no dispute among the three drivers on account of events. I filled out the insurance claim and had the car towed to the body shop on Monday.
Wednesday I received a call that my insurance company (GEICO) is taking longer than normal to price out the repairs, since they do not have a full cost sheet yet for the 2016 models. I hope to hear back with more information today.
I'll update this thread with more information as it progresses...
