Hoping to get my second letter soon. My camera went out for a day or two last month, but it's working fine now. If anyone has the recall performed, let us know how it goes and what they replace.

I had a camera backup issue once but the dealer managed to fix it with a software update a few years ago and it's been fine since. I'm not sure if this is the same issue, or a 2nd one that I've just not had. Either way I still got the recall notice.

My dad had mobile service come out and do his. His camera was working fine. They ran some diagnostics and determined the fix wasn’t needed so they didn’t do anything. So if your camera is working fine, there’s a good chance they won’t do anything.

I can t remember and I could be way off so don t spread this as truth but I thought it had something to do with the wiring be run too tight somewhere causing issues?

Your more than likely right, The recall for the other mustangs were not clear as to the issue, and my guess this is the same issue, it could be another issue, in the spring when i go talk to my service guy I'll ask him, but I would bet that is the case.

I know that was an issue in some of the 2015-2017 cars, I would assume it’s something similar on this one as well. I don’t think it’s software related, from what my dad was saying sounds like they were doing physical checks of certain things, not computer things. Will be interested to hear what others experience when they get theirs checked. FWIW, I did not get a notice for my car.

I like to disassemble things.
It's an FSA, or Field Service Action.

Ford service will connect a scan tool and look for specific DTC's in either the APIM/FCDIM or the BCM. If none of the specific codes arise they'll turn the ignition on, place the vehicle in reverse and look to see if:
- video not displayed or unavailable
- intermittent video
- distorted video
- inverted video

If none of the above occurs the FSA has been completed and your camera is likely fine.

Just had it done on my R, 450, and Bronco. All function correctly. It’s just how Epihany posted. He had the parts to do the repair if necessary. Ironically they don’t send them with replacement body clips if they’re damaged(very common) during panel removement. I was polite, and he was cool and understanding, told him if it had needed the repairs I’d do it myself, they weren’t disassembling anything. He was a little shocked I had more of the oem clips and fasteners then they did.

I always find it interesting that they never seem to have enough (or any) clips, pushpins, etc. when those are some of the cheapest pieces you’ll find on these cars. Shortly after I got my car, I lost one of the battery cover retainer pins. Went to my dealer parts department to buy one, didn’t have any in stock. Ended up ordering a handful from Tasca and had them quicker than my dealer would’ve had them 🤷‍♂️

Ironically this was the biggest issue I had with franchise dealers parts departments when I had my shop. On the collision side shops use a ton of those fasteners and hardware. Those were the single biggest issue for me as far as parts went for getting cars out timely and not waiting. Thus why I have so many. As good as aftermarket tries to be oem is better even to this day quality wise.

I took my girl to the dealer even though it could have been done with the mobile unit. But, I wanted to meet the Shelby tech at this store for the first time. Super nice dude with over thirty years of experience.

The damn test calls for the accessory to be on and it pulled the battery down below cranking ability so he had to charge it for twenty minutes. But, he didn't see any of the codes in the recall but did flash the TCM. Here's the service work sheet.

I always put a charger on the battery when the key is on for more than a few seconds to avoid battery issues. That should be SOP.
