How about the "go out to the garage and mash as hard on the pedal to see if you can break the bracket" option.

you know, there is no recall until your car is included in the recall. However, the evidence is damning IMHO. If you have a PP bracket, you need to understand the risks associated with driving the car.

Me? I drive the car. I would never take it out on the track until the repair is accomplished..
