During cold start, the PCM logic pushes the throttle blade open which requires the timing to be retarded far into the negatives to heat up the exhaust and light off the cats. In order to reduce the noise, we used to reduce the amount it was allowed to retard timing because that's all we had access to do. However, with PCMTec you have access to auF24202, which is the threshold of cat temp to exit CSER set at 650 deg F stock, and auF24298, which is the threshold of cat temp for high idle set at 900 deg F stock.

Has anyone made a direct complaint to you - as in came to you and verbally discussed their concern?

Are there any bylaws or provisions outlined in your HOA contract that state a vehicle has to be under a certain dB as far as exhaust noise or automotive noise in general?

If NOT, then go about your business and eventually the Karen’s will adjust or they’ll move….
You underestimate the resilience of an angry Karen.

Your solution sounds simple enough and it should be, but isn't reality.

To add to this, some cities/towns have noise ordinances before or after a certain time of day. Where I live, anything too loud before 7am is technically breaking the law. I'd hate to have to give up my mods because someone decided to escalate the issue to the local government level. That said, my setup is not nearly as......complete as yours.

Edit: I was curious, so I asked Gemini if OP's listed location has such an ordinance.

"OAR-735-124-0130-(1)
Every vehicle shall be equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise and annoying smoke. "

That's Oregon administrative rules. LTH and no resonator probably makes it loud enough for a judge to determine that your existing setup is not preventing excessive noise. It could also be argued that an unresonated Coyote with LTH is making an unusual noise since it doesn't come that way stock.

ORS 815.250.2(c)
The exhaust system must meet noise emissions standards determined by the Department of Environmental Quality to be substantially equivalent to the following standards based on a stationary test conducted at 25 feet in accordance with procedures established by the Department of Environmental Quality:

III. Vehicles after 1976, 88 db
^is the relevant section

However, subsection 3 (A) and 3 (B) provide an exemption to 815.250.2(c)
(A) The exhaust is stock
(B) The car is a street rod that conforms with the regulations outlined in ORS 815.107

You could try the pool noodles in the pipes if you don't want to swap anything out but I'd tone the exhaust down with a resonator. If your HOA really wants to be a pain, they have a bit more of the law on their side than you do.

Hmmmmm....I love robust cars, but if I had the above red-highlighted conditions, I could not argue if my neighbors and HOA called me the Karen.
right.. and i feel bad with my meager borla s type axleback leaving at 6am lol.

I received a letter from the management company that over Sees our hoa. I sent an email to a good friend over there that is a higher up and she is going to look at the by laws about noise and I will let you guys know what it says. Hopefully it doesn’t say to much because I know who complained and she is a true Karen! Now with that being said I have already thought about quieting the car down some just because of the cold start and I do like the rest of my neighbors just not that one! Hopefully I can post something here on Monday to show you all what the by laws say.

Thank you for this! And luckily I don’t start the car up before 7 am. And if I come home later the car is not loud. It’s just annoying loud on the cold start for ten seconds

Car is parked outside?

I have seen people back in their garages, I have also seen people make "sound boxes" out of styrofoam to trap the noise. But again, in the garage.

If you're out on the street, or a parking spot, not a lot you can do unfortunately.

Yea it’s pretty bad ass loud! It sure was fun for a few months but I do feel like a dick in the morning starting this thing up. I make sure I look outside behind my car to make sure no one is walking behind my car so I don’t give them a heart attack.
...
I love the sound of a loud Mustang - SO LONG AS IT IS NOT MY OWN.

IMO the Coyote does not lend itself to sounding good with the louder exhausts like the Corsa stuff.

Obviously it depends on the composition of the exhaust system as a whole, but I have heard some that just sound like absolute garbage.

I can't imagine the headache I would get in the cabin from those, but I'm pretty sensitive to drone. That's why I've got the AWE system, it's pretty liveable for normal driving.

Crazy thing with my exhaust there is zero drone inside the cabin and it’s not very loud driving normal. It’s just the cold start and when you punch it, it’s screams!!

Now the question begs. Should I just pull this exhaust off and get a new system and sell this one? If so which system would you guys recommend that sounds good, good performance but not obnoxiously loud. Planning on supercharger next summer. Thanks!

two words. Active Exhaust. I can't comment on other systems, there is tons of good setups. But the stock Mach 1 exhaust with no resonator sounds amazing to me. Loud on track mode and quiet as it can be when needed for late nights/cold starts.

I like borla s types for the deeper tone, corsa sports are more high pitch
