Hello everybody, I have Kooks catted Longtube headers that I recently paired along with my Corsa Extreme Catback, when driving in lower rpms under 3000 it is pretty tame however, I am facing the problem(not a problem for me, but my neighbors) with my cold starts being ridiculously louder than they were before. I leave for work at 2:30 am and was wondering if anybody has a method of quieting down their cold start that doesn't involve a tune. I have seen videos of people using pool noodles and making some sort cold start totes and if anybody has results using these methods or has better methods on quieting down cold starts that would be much appreciated. I do not have active exhaust. I am going to make the cold start totes tomorrow and I will leave feedback here on how it goes.

pool noodles cuts the volume A LOT. I did that short term. PITA though. Much money later it's tolerable now. I'll probably have cold start features disabled next tune revision though.

I live where the pink X is

Buddy who has headers + ATAKs lives at the yellow X

I can be sitting in my garage and hear him start his car, tell you which road and what direction he went, and can hear him go down said road for about a mile. If he goes north I can also tell you if he turns left or right at the next main road...

Ouch... You pretty much have the loudest catted setup possible. I've seen videos of the pool noodle trick and it seems to help but at 2-3am it'll be loud no matter what. You in a garage? I always start my car with the garage door down and try to keep the rpm's as low as I can leaving the subdivision.

This would work. Once at least.

Sorry, don't mean to fan the flames of frustration.

Adding a resonator I think someone else mentioned, is a logical first step. It’s still gonna be loud as hell.

these cars sound better with resonators anyways imo.

Hello everyone I would like to let everyone here know I have seen your messages and I appreciate all the feedback, I will be borrowing a family member's car on the days they don't work in the office so I only have to start my car 2 days in the early morning 😁 for the days I do work I will be using pool methods and my cold start totes once they're completed. For those of you saying to get a quieter catback, as much as you guys are right and logical I will not be doing that and I will just live with the exhaust system I chose. Once again thank you everybody for your inputs.

It may cost a bit unless you can weld well, but if you have active exhaust and its still loud in quiet mode, you may need to add a secondary valve system somewhere to add in a turn off/on able resonator, or even second muffler. That would give you your normal sound level when you want it, and a much quieter cold start.

Make sure if you go this route you use electric valves

I haven’t installed my headers yet due to the noise. But have full stainless works cat back with the active exhaust. Regardless of it being set to quiet mode the first 30 seconds are still loud until the rpms drop. Have had their headers to go on for almost a year. There’s a few guys around me with headers and exhaust and it’s so GD loud. I run mine in track mode all the time and is about as loud as I’d like it. Especially on highway. But after 4k rpm it screams when it needs to. Scares people if I accelerate hard next to them. Gotta pay to play. I’m glad my neighbors like my car lol. They def wouldn’t with the headers lol. Pretty much anything you do, it’s still going to be loud af with headers. Even with stock cans
