Thanks man, not sure what else I would or could have done. Just a hurdle in the way, I'm not out of the clear yet, I still have to finish buttoning her up, provided I don't forget something stupid in my excitement to finish registering her and going for the first few rides.

Big shout out to everyone who chimed in and offered suggestions and advice. Typical forums there was a little banter back and fourth when things probably could have been worded differently. Funny how it seemed to happen almost right after another member said how good the thread was going lol.

Really glad to be a member here and looking forward to contributing in the future for other new owners.

Ok total nub moment but I can’t seem to find a place these four bolts.
they look like they are made from the same material as the suspension bolts.
doesn’t seem to be a place for the In the belly pan.
Blue lock tight tells is a clue just not sure what.

Ok total nub moment but I can’t seem to find a place these four bolts.
they look like they are made from the same material as the suspension bolts.
doesn’t seem to be a place for the In the belly pan.
Blue lock tight tells is a clue just not sure what.

Hello; I had some bolts which looked much like those pictured when removing a battery tray and windshield washer reservoir last week on a Chevy pickup. Maybe some panel????

Did you pull part of the upper cowl brace to get to the cams? Or the coolant expansion tank?

I didn’t do anything with the battery this project. Thanks for the suggestion though

Not sure if you have jacking rails but those look like the bolts near the pinch welds that are used to install BMR jacking rails. Size may be off though. Not sure why they would have come out for this work. And I'm taking a total stab in the dark. But those bolts use blue loctite.

Plastic Belly Pan attachment bolts maybe??
Hello; This is the sort of thing I was thinking of. Small bolts with large attached washers do sometimes attach panels or in the case of my windshield reservoir tank to hold it in place. Some sort of plastic panel or thin panel needing the big washer to keep the head of the bolt from pulling thru.
Not sure what they are called but most newer vehicles have a plastic panel which is supposed to help with airflow under the front of a vehicle. The sort of bolts pictured are used in my experience. Not critical to the running of the vehicle and often in the way when ding a job.

Well the hits just keep on coming…. This morning when going to get the car inspected I noticed none of the steering wheel buttons were working and the air bag light is lit on the dash.
The buttons were working last night because I cycled thru to see all the temps.
just find it odd that now this is a problem. The only thing related to the steering wheel I did was disconnect the connections on the rack and disconnect the steering shaft.
Any thoughts??

Sounds like you turned the wheel with the rack disconnected. This would cause the clock spring to be over extended when turning one direction, ultimately tearing the ribbon cable in there.

Sounds like you turned the wheel with the rack disconnected. This would cause the clock spring to be over extended when turning one direction, ultimately tearing the ribbon cable in there.
So I have to pull the wheel apart?

If it's broken yes, but start with a cursory check to make sure the wire harness feeding the clock spring is safe and secure. As it stands, that is the point where both of those functions merge to one part so start looking around there for anything out of place
