The big problem with Ford's logic in the gen 3 is the amount of fuel consumed before maturing tables are zeroed out. PCMtec software has these tables available to populate.

I would just hang tight for a real flex fuel option, I think it wont be long before the sensor based flex tunes explode on the market.

The inferred flex works ok but not well enough to depend on to the point where you can just fill and go without monitoring in some capacity.

Sensor based flex will allow you to just put whatever fuel you want in and send it.

Yeah that seems to be what the best option is. I will do some other things (Stop the Hop, LTH, K-Member, Better tires) in the meantime. Hopefully something is out by the time the spring season starts.

I have had my eyes on E85 tune on my Mach 1 for a while now. I have heard great things of Wengerd Performance. Trying to get a E85/91 tune but trying to do more research. Not a flex tune from what I hear you have to flash back and forth 91/E85 as needed. I guess I should add that Fuel-IT sensor kit, that sounds pretty awesome wonder if anyone has feedback on a good sensor kit.

if you can get e85 99% of the time, I'd go with juggernaut. You get a 9plus, flex, and e85 tune. I've only ran the e85 tune so far (~3k miles) with no issues but if I'm ever "stranded" I can just fill up with 93 and flash the flex tune and be on my way

I've been using the Fuel-It kit for months now, works great. Also, it can be adapted to larger sized fuel lines with the Aeromotive adapter, which allows for up to a -10AN fitting. The adapter has a bypass in it to allow the additional fuel to flow around the sensor. I have mine on the return side of my fuel system, just before the return line from the drivers side fuel rail, leading into the pressure regulator.

If you only do one thing to your MACH1, do a Wengerd E85 tune. Best bang for the buck by far for performance.

Thanks, I want to boost later on but for now want to run E85/91 because its my daily driver. Don't want to get stuck if E85 is not available.

What else can really be done at this point? Other than longtubes (I am in cali LOL). I think Whipple and E85 is all really.

Like I told the other guy, your E85 tune will also come with a gasoline calibration. If you are out of E85 and there is no station with it near by, just flash the 91 octane tune, and fill up. You just want to be down around a gallon or so of whatever fuel, to then flash over to the alternate.

I have been in this situation before, and I just fill the tank, then move the car to a parking spot at the gas station, and flash the appropriate tune.

I’ve been running a Livernois flex tune for months and love it. No testing or monitoring, just fill up and go.

Is Lund saying you should use an e85 tune on e85, 93 tune on 93, and flex tune *only* when switching from one fuel to another?!? So you’re constantly playing musical tunes?

I believe they would like for you to, but I can attest to that not being necessary. When I drove from Kansas City to Florida 2 1/2 years ago, I started out on my Flex tune, with a full tank of E85 and when it was time to fill up, I had to go 15 miles out of the way to find a station that sold E85. I figured that would become a huge hassle during the trip, so every fill up thereafter was with 93. Once I got to Florida I remained on the Flex tune and resumed filling up with E85. Note: The car did not like 93 as well as E85 on the Flex tune. It popped and sounded very different, until I put E85 in the tank. It now sounds and performs much crisper.

I’ve been strictly running on the E85R tune since last year, as I have a found a station high ethanol content (82%-85%) about 20 miles away.

That is due to a subpar tune.

It should have run just like the 93 tune

Not sure about that. I assumed it was because of the amount of E85 (probably 6-8 gallons) that was in the tank when I filled up with 93. It reminded me of a top fuel dragster sounding a certain way at start up and really crisp once the crew chief switched on the nitromethane.

The drive down here was the longest my car has ever been on the 93 tune. Before that, I only ran it during the initial tuning process.
