Converter is not going to help 60 to 130 rolls unless it is super loose like a 5 or 6K. I'd have to see a dyno sheet of your car to make an educated decision. You want it to stall at or just above torque peak.

Do the gears first, in fact do everything you are going to do, then choose a converter.

The offer on the cams stands:)
Yes it does...

Only if it keeps the RPM in the power band. Without a dyno sheet we don't know where to make the converter stall. Gears and cams and manifolds will alter this.

So make all the changes then do a dyno pull then choose a converter. This is my way of doing things. YMMV

It is running 30 degrees, plenty of timing for coyote heads.

My question is the VCT. Has Lund or anyone dynoed the OP's cams or is it an educated guess.

@Wengerd Performance

I'll tag Wengerd maybe he can answer the VCT question.
I highly doubt Wengerd will help me out, but I will give him praise if he does.

And no idea how much research Lund has done on the cams and optimal vct timing.

Also is 30 degs the limit for e85 or can I add more?

a converter will allow the engine to rev quicker, also minimize rpm drop between shifts and get him into the powerband quicker from the hit.

I want to get on a dyno to compare the ported 18 with the boss. Will be an interesting comparison.

OP cam timing is short for optimum power. If you look at the VCT curves you can see what the cams are doing.

30 degrees is about the max for power, you can advance more but might lose power.

All true, but he is probably starting his pull at 6K. The 6R does have a large RPM drop between gears but would need a 5K or 6K converter to minimize RPM drop.
A 5K lock up might drive fine on the street but I have not tried it.

Is that the vct timing that’s in the log or do I need to log a different one?

They're logged. 30deg is about maxed for timing. 3.73 is great for the MT82. Not so much for the 6r80. I'd go 3.55. Stick with the 18 manifold. Dump the JLT and get a PMAS.

The statement was made that coyotes don't need cams unless this, that, and the other. I wasn't aware that gen1 didn't apply. I'll let yall get back to nit picking over nothing.

Why would I stick with the 18 mani? A race ported boss with a 95mm throttle body would definitely flow better.
