My muffler valves have been acting up for awhile and now and would occasionally throw the “exhaust mode not available” and “drive mode not available” error messages. Usually this would go away after turning the car off and letting it sit for 5-10 minutes. This solution has stopped working for me and my mufflers has been stuck shut for 2 days with no access to drive mode either. Has anyone found a solution to this? I wanted to try these but not sure if the codes will go away as i will have to forcefully open both valves then install.

Have you checked the passenger side Active Exhaust harness to see if it has chafing on it? If so, a new harness or repair may be needed.

This. Check both sides, but it's usually the passenger side. Did you replace mids? Also, just take a look at your active exhaust fuse first since it's a PITA to climb under your car to find the harness.

Yep - it's a very common issue with the rear AE harnesses becoming damaged, loose or chafed, which causes the AE issues.

As others stated above, check that thread hyperlink and try the recommended DIYs to fixing it; they'll work again.

yea, the car has no cats or resonator. I’ll check the fuse than go under and look at the harness itself. Thanks

If the exhaust has been messed around with there is a chance that A) the wiring got a little damaged during fitment (especially if the rear section didn’t get dropped during the mods) and B) the exhaust is now a little longer putting the wiring even closer to the body seam than what Ford did.

Wiring can and will cause the “exhaust mode not available” ,

But this is unusual "drive mode not available"
However I also speak as a 2020 owner, and your car is listed as 2017, so could be related.

From what i think as long as “exhaust mode is not available” it won’t allow me to enter driver modes as sport/ track/ drag all require the valve to open. But i will definitely be doing the harness

This is correct. I think in 2018 they changed the programming like Rapid Red is explaining.

I pulled the fuse for my exhaust. I can't switch between drive modes, and get the same error as you. However, I can put the suspension and steering into track/sport modes, so good to go.

It's happened to me in my 2016. Found out it has to be in neutral for me to scroll through different modes.
