Got sick of the terrible fitment of the Drake decklid panel, noticed it was splitting from the base. Put the stock one back on and sold the split Drake lid for $50.

Washed the car and unhooked the center dash speaker today. I THINK it sounds somewhat better. But I'm not sure.
You're not going to get better sound disconnecting a speaker, contrary to what has been suggested here. There's no logic in that practice.

Now, replacing speakers......that's a different story.

Yea. I did not cut anything like some folks here. I am already looking up replacement center channels. I am split on the center channel adding value. But I think it would if it was a higher end speaker.

I had the 9 speaker and thought that the sound bounced horribly with the center speaker. Cut that wire. So I got a Maestro, an amp, and replaced the mid ranges and the mains. Be aware, the speakers in the package tray are different than the doors, at least on the '19. Fixed that and forskined the system EQ to flat.

If you want any quality of music, I suggest replacing at least the main speakers that have an inch diameter magnet.

I have swapped the factory paper sub with a pioneer replacement. That made a HUGE difference!

What model was that you fitted and did it require modification?

Did some upgrades today :) Borla S Type with Active exhaust. I got the tips really tucked in tight, maybe a little too tight but I like the look. I might loosen the mid pipe and pull the system back about 1/2 inch at some point but will leave it alone for now.

I used this one:

https://www.crutchfield.com/product/item/default.aspx?i=130TSA100D

I have a post here somewhere on everything I did. But I went in with the intentions of only having to cut the connectors off inside the stock box and one alignment pin on the mounting surface. I succeeded. However, I had to elongate the mounting holes on the new speaker and gently flatten the rim around them. I wanted to use the stock grill and trim so it was necessary.

Here are some more pics. And a snap of the post that identified positive and negative connections.

I agree. I always get Borla on all my cars and trucks. I'm a service provider for them so I can order and go pick up at the factory. Saves a ton on shipping.

That’s awesome. Nice perk and a money saver for sure.
