If I had ordered a non-HP, I'd still have bought similar size wheels and tires, the spoiler, and the splitter. I just think the spoiler and splitter look great, and the improved turn-in and general handling with the widths and offsets of the HP wheels is noticeable. When I took off the winter non-HP wheels and tires and replaced them with the summer ones you could definitely tell a difference.

I didn't like the HP wheels or the Cup 2's so I bought black PP2 wheels of the same size and offset and used the same tire size in PS4S and am very happy with it. You could do the same with buying a non-HP and adding the wheels / splitter / spoiler for about the same price. But you would be losing the HP stiffer springs and sway bar, which I would not be happy with. It could be fixed but again more time and money.

I really wish the stock setups on all the performance pack mustangs were NOT staggered. I really liked rotating my tire setups even just for a street setup. My 17 GT's suspension with Bilstein B6's and BMR handling springs was incredible with a 285 square setup.
I am a fan of the staggered look, and I agree with the lack of being able to perform rotations

Oh yeah, the staggered look definitely looks awesome and even better on the Mach 1 HP. I don't plan on ruining the setup.

We calculated the differences between buying them and its 1600$, I don't think I will be saving anything if I buy the Non HP. That's what I felt.

Agreed, definitely better to buy the HP if you want the wheels and tire sizes / wing / splitter.

I went with the non HP Mach 1. Never gonna track it and daily drive when I can. I live in NY so cold weather is an issue. I'll switch to Michelin AS eventually. If you're not tracking it my advice is to go with the Non HP car, get the optional upgraded wheels. I think they are far nicer then those bird nest HP wheels...(there, I said it). If your a fan of big spoilers (I am not) you can get the HP spoiler installed at a later date. I do not recommend the additional front splitter. It will be toast sooner rather than later. All that said the car is a blast! What ever you get...enjoy it.

Playing devil’s advocate the $3500, now $4500 premium for the HP may only be worth it if you plan to keep it as equipped. If you’re really going to track you can probably do better with the aftermarket. You could always take the money saved and put a better caster camber plate on and swap springs at the same time and rear sway bar, but with the option of upgrading whatever else you want. As far as the wheels, I’d argue a square set of 11” wheels along with ARP studs and a spacer is superior to the HP wheels. If you’re going to just swap to factory HP parts only then by all means order the car that way from the factory.

Is that mostly city? I know my gearing is a little different but I get over 20MPG in my Bullitt.
Strangely I used to get 20 from my Bullitt, (28 from the GT before that), but with the Mach 1 it has dropped to around 15! The car is so much more fun and just begs to be driven harder! 😀

Haha, yeah, it depends entirely on how heavy your right foot is. I have 19 mpg avg in 2500 miles, but in my favourite roads it's easy to have 15 mpg avg. But before I get there and heat up the engine, and then get back, pass through city etc., it evens out.

28 mpg in GT? That's unimaginable as a longterm. I can get that only when cruising at constant speed out of town trying really hard. And even then it was 26 mpg iirc.

Lol, after having a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Hemi which got about 10 city and if I drove under 70 on the highway, maybe 16, I have no problem with the Mach1 fuel efficiency!

Mainly long motorway runs back then, try and avoid city's etc 😀

We are reaching the apex of the fuel (in)efficiency where the imperial and the metric finally meet.
I am doing 16 L/100km, you are doing 16 mpg and the world is united :).

I normally have my gauges up showing intake temp, cylinder head temp, etc. I don't have much time to look at MPG unless I'm getting gas. They definitely are thirsty cars and I don't know that I would recommend one for purely city driving as a daily driver if you're concerned about filling up your tank often. It's a blast to drive so I don't let that stuff bother me. I know what I was buying going into this.

Can anyone tell me if there's a ride height difference? I know my CFTP GT500 sat 3/4" of an inch lower than a base one. I'm wondering if the HP sits lower than a regular Mach 1 and how it either compares to a base GT500. I've got a horrible driveway. I could only get my CFTP in backing up at an angle.

@Capt Jim The difference is minimal, 2-3 mm lower in the front, none in the back, refer to this recent post.

Edit: It's actually 10 mm front, 5-7 mm rear, see here.

The clearance to the lower splitter is just 5" as seen here but the engine cover is even bit lower. For angled driveway the splitter is definitely problematic since it goes far into the front and is pretty low.
