There are absolutely benefits from swapping it out due to the scavenging effects of a true point for gasses to merge and alternate exhaust pulses. However, are you suggesting that the initial chamber with perforated sections on both tubes is a crossover?Just reading the comments and passing on my observations from reading the forum :
A) The resonator does have a crossover, but it’s somewhat restrictive when compared to a pipe - there is a passage for gas in the bottom compartment (referencing the photo further up this thread) i.e

B) Just because the standard resonator is straight through, it doesn’t mean that benefits can’t be found from swapping it out.
