Ford Performance Tune for 2018+ GT

I have an MY18, built in Oct 17, and have had this issue since the first week I had the car. I don't think there is really a resolution. Probably just software issues between Sync and Apple.

I agree. Even with most of the loaner Fusion’s I’ve gotten, I had the same issues. It’s a small problem that I can live with.

Kit came early, got the intake tube that everyone was missing in the beginning.

Hoping to have this installed at Galpin on Tuesday...as long as I get my car back in time from the oil pan being replaced. South Bay Ford won't install Ford Racing parts.

This kit comes with a paper filter, probably the OEM filter that is included on the GT350 as well as the Bullitt. I want to go with an AFE or the FRPP high flow filter. This has to be worth a few more horsepower I would imagine.

You could probably search around the gt350 section, or bullitt, to see. I did a little while back and read the FP unit is only good for a couple ponies at best (>5). These filters are really big so that doesn't entirely surprise me. If you have better luck searching then please share. I, personally, don't feel the frade off in filtration is worth it.

So what does everyone think of the ProCal4 that comes with this kit? Instuctions say it must be used with Windows 7 or higher. Checked with Ford Performance, and they say it must be used with a Windows based device. Unfortunately, all I own is a IMac, Ford said it won't work. How often does the ProCal have to be connected to a computer? Assuming I could use a friends Windows computer and get the tune downloaded, and I would be good to go, I would never have to hook it to a computer again? Unless Ford has some kind of required update.

ProCal 4 tool receives periodic firmware updates for greater usability and additional features. Please connect tool to PC periodically to receive the updates automatically.

Guess that means I need to hook it up now and then.

Only for updates. After you download to car you dont need the windows. But, I went on offer up and bought a cheap used laptop for 100 bucks that had at least windows 7 just for the install lol. And I can still use it again if I need to.

BTW, you can also install with a tablet as long as it's Windows based. Bought a refurbished Dell 10." with Windows 8.1 and this will work fine. I do also have a PC at home.

I won't touch an apple product. The lack of support and the experience of being an apple certified tech in my early 20s just reinforces that.

I used the Dell because I had Forscan on it already. I have a gaming rig as well. Waiting for the RTX3070 to come out.

The stock filter on the Bullitt already exceeds the air needs of our engines. It's actually sufficient for the GT350 engine, which has higher air needs due to 5.2L and 8,300 rpm, vs 5.0L and 7,500 rpm. Why sacrifice filtration for air the engine doesn't need? Remember there's no free lunch with air filters: more air = more dirt. Makes no sense to add more air when engine doesn't need it. And even if the filter was a little restrictive, it'd only be near redline anyway, where you drive well less than 5% of the time. Racing filters on the street are just not worth it, but it's your engine .

Nice! It's good to see that this next gen finally has good performance gains. Although I think I'm going to try to hold onto my rtx 2080 for another year or two. I'm curious to see if AMD steps up with something beefy like their new ryzen cpus.

@Briebee72, I emailed Ford Performance out of curiosity, along with a few other questions. Here is their response:

The point wasn't to use a full tank of e85. It's to mix in with your regular fill up because you can't get e15 without mixing, at least to my knowledge. It's not voiding anything. I recall reading that e30 is the max you'd want to go, on the stock tune, without risking running too lean. Although you'd need genuine e85 for that.



E85 doesn't really give you a big octane bump, though. I don't even think your mix puts you at 93 octane. You'd need a lot of e85 than the tune may be compatible with. Not that it's a bad idea, though. 93 e15 will be more knock resistant than 93 e0.



Thank you. I had her for 19 years so it's felt a bit empty around the house. And right!? I knew it was expensive but had no idea it was that bad. The leaded 112 octane was about $4 less a gallon. It's too bad we can't use it. I'm curious if one tank or two of 3 galons leaded fuel would actually cause any harm.
