Just because it was in a showroom doesn't mean they didn't have a rodent problem in the building.

I keep all my riding gear in a small closet in the den... helmet, gloves, leathers and a couple pairs of boots. One day I donned full leathers and went to put on my Alpinestar smx boots and discovered the bottom filled with dry dog food. Seems the little bugger was humping it from under the basement door across the den to the closet. Setting in for a long stay I guess.I have seen this before when I worked at a Toyota dealer in the past. Another mouse tail...We had a car come in one time that owner complained that the car had no power. After a quick check of everything we found that the airbox was totally full of dog food! Seems the little guy was raiding the dog food bowl in the owner's garage and stashing it in the airbox!
if a mouse screwed up my car I’d wish for the most painful death. There rodents that carry disease, I.e Black Plague so kill them before they get in your car.Pour one out for that poor little fella who perished in the blower motor. That's no way to go.
I have had good luck with the mouse repelling products...some of them smell pretty strong but I finally found one that smelled decent and did the job. Mice seem to dislike peppermint. I tucked them into a couple of strategic spots in the engine bay, etc and never had a problem since.
I'm a strong advocate for the kindest possible interventions when it comes to mice, etc. I haven't yet been able to understand the mechanism by which otherwise decent seeming people can come to believe that crushing a living animal in a trap or worse still, having them panic to death on a glue trap is an acceptable solution...without at least trying other things first. I just hope these folks get better than they give.
NO I don't think so, the glove box is just another bathroom with reading material. What about the owners manual and paperwork in the glove box, any of that chewed up?
Do you think the little guy kept up for a while when you turned on the blower motor and then just got tired out? Kind of like a Gravitron ride for rodents.
Are you sure the HVAC door stays open when ignition if off (and not if recirc)? It'd be greatWhen it's set to recalculation mode, a door closes over the cabin filter access hole
When I took my battery box out of my GT, I know the HVAC was not in "Recirc". I could see the cabin air filter through the intake on the firewall - photo below. You can see the door (with the white seal) that allows air into the filter is open. That's probably how that mouse got in there on the OP's car. All he had to do is chew through the filter and he's inside the blower, etc.Are you sure the HVAC door stays open when ignition if off (and not if recirc)? It'd be great. On my 2018 F-150, that door is ALWAYS closed unless you turn HVAC on, AND de-select recirc. I don't like that, since you ALWAYS have to turn the system on to have any airflow. With cars that allow fresh air with HVAC off (in 'fresh', of course), I don't need to turn it on most of the winter. Hope the Mustang is that way, and if the above statement is correct, it should
. Need to check it out.
