Most likely grease that oozed out that dirt and brake dust stuck to.

I think on my car only one side was like that, it had a weight bolted on that side. I just threw it in the scrap dumpster.

Pulling the car out of the mud using the wheel could easily do damage, at a minimum get the alignment checked, that would easily show damage.

I would also pop the tops off the battery and make sure acid level is over top of the lead plates inside. Once they start to be uncovered the battery charge goes to shit also. I just use water that my basement dehumidifier collects.

Clean the corrosion off the terminals first with baking soda and water before condemning the battery.

I loosened them from above with a 10mm socket on a universal then reached in and ran them off by hand, I have small hands, lol.

I thought removing the front bumper was easy, A bunch of plastic trim clips, 5.5mm, 7mm, 8mm head screws, and 2 wire connectors for the turn signals. I did it without removing the front tires.

On Friday had the recall done, PCM software update. Today I installed the Diode Dynamics sequential turn signals/foglights. Got them on sale for the 4th of July. Went with the yellow foglights because I daily drive it
