If you are is not driving it daily definitely put mouse traps all around your car and probably leaving hood open helps with a mouse trap on top too. Even my previous car driving daily somehow bastard got in there and pooped all over. I would mix the snapping trap with the stick trap, that seems to work best.

Went through this many years ago. We had outdoor cats, tried pepper oil, put radios where they were nesting, humane traps, and all kinds of gimmicks. I finally called a pro. He noticed my hunting gear and kindly decided to teach me "the way" at no cost. Deer hunting and mice hunting are pretty much the same.

Don't ever underestimate the intelligence of mice or their ability to rapidly reproduce. If they want to nest in your house, they WILL find a way around just about everything you can throw at them. If you think there are one or two, you are already behind the curve. Think dozens! And even if you manage to kill them, more will return because mice love to follow the scent trails of other mice. Those trails can last a very long time. Your new kitty may not be able to keep up.

First, just get a lot of cheap plain jane wood spring traps. Get at least 20 of them and put some chunky peanut butter in them (even if they're "cheese scented"). Put them all over the place, but focus on where you've seen them or seen turds. Use gloves and try to avoid those areas for at least 3 days. You want as little human scent around them as possible. Keep doing this until you no longer see mice in the traps.

Now the hard part. You have to figure out what has drawn them to you. It may not even be you. It could be something a neighbor is doing. For me, it was my neighbor's bird feeders. Mice LOVE seeds! Once she got rid of the feeders, the mice never returned.

You may need to belly crawl around your property but think like a mouse. Get on their level. And understand 3 things...

1. They only need a hole the size of a nickel to get into your house.
2. They like to nest within 30 feet of a steady food source. This is not just a horizontal measure, think vertically as well.
3. They're willing to risk cohabitation with you and your stupid cat if it means a food source and a warm place to nest.

It took me a couple weeks and a trail camera to figure out what was drawing my mice. So be thorough and patient. And the best test of your success is the first day of freezing temps. They'll come right back when it's cold if you failed.

If there’s turds under the hood - you better pull your back seat bottom cushion and check in trunk (remove the trunk panels)…. Once they get in, they start to burrow, eat through car insulation (cushions), and wiring casings….

Set up peanut butter on glue traps around the garage (if you have small kids or other pets then place traps where they cannot access them at all). You’ll get rodents for sure on glue traps faster than you would in a traditional trap.

This brand works great for all sorts of traps:

You can also bulk order generic flat glue traps on Amazon too instead of paying like $6.00-$8.00 per 2 or 4 packs in most stores…

Trick is to place the peanut butter in dead center so the rodent HAS to get onto the trap…

Put them on L and R side of garage door in the interior - because they can crawl under the rubber thresholds or sneak in at the L and R sides. Then place some under the car where you can still reach them to dispose of once trapped.
