Sync update issues

For 2 weeks I've been getting the message that sync needs to be updated in my bullit. It asks me if I want to connect to WiFi, I do and nothing happens. I've also tried using the myford mobile app like it suggests, but it fails registering my Vin and EIN. Any suggestions?

Mine hasn't notified me yet, but you can do a manual update by downloading it from your computer onto a thumb drive and doing the update in your car that way. I'm not a huge fan of the new Sync design with the all-blue look so I'm hoping my car doesn't pester me about it.

Yep, same message. Curious about what the update is that won't actually update. Let us know what you find out.

Mine's done the same since day 1. Set it up to my home network but nothing updates. Start the car and a few seconds late it's asking to connect to a network again.

Mine too, guess I will try the USB stick method.

Stupid update page says it could take up to 60 minutes and I have to leave the car running! Yeah, that's gonna happen.

Yet the manual also says to avoid extended idle times lol

Guys, The car does not have to be running to do the update. Just ignition on. Mine took about 10 minutes. I first tried the Wi-Fi method but that was taking too long. So I went online and downloaded the update unto a USB stick and completed the process that way. When finish, there will be a confirmation file written on your USB. Go back to the Ford website and upload this file so Ford is aware you have the update.

Just updated mine as el-guapin related; engine does not need to be running. Took about 10 minutes for this update.

That's what I have too. I have had no success trying to install the update so maybe it is because my WiFi stayed connected after I shut off the car and completed the download (as the owners manual notes it could).
