Been saving for a Whipple stage 2 plus fans. Almost there... Wondering if I should just go with GT350 intake and cams, maybe a few cosmetic mods? If I go Whipple, won't have money to upgrade anything else for a while (imma cash only kinda guy) just looking for some general input. I already have Lund tune, SW catless full exhaust and steeda CAI.

Thanks

You dont need the fans for the whipple. Waste of money in my opinion... You also don't need any other mods... another waste of money.

If you want to go faster and make power, change the pulley and up the octane. It will stay silent and still deliver.

You could get the Whipple with engine warranty, and take your chances on the OPG and chain sprocket. There is recent postings in the FI section on this topic but no real consensus.

The statement I take away from those discussions was about Whipple doing lots and lots of testing on a stock engine and offering a warranty based on their confidence level. I don't know the validity of it, but don't have any reason to doubt their amount of testing either. Or worst case their banking on the # of warranty purchases versus failures. But that doesn't make sense.

Do you want to stay naturally-aspirated and have money left over for lots of other mods, like new wheels and tires, suspension work, cosmetic things like spoilers, grilles and fascias, better exhaust, headers, tune, etc? You can get your cams, manifold, headers, suspension, tune, and new wheels/tires with $$$ left over for what you'd pay for a stage 2 Whipple especially if you have it installed. You won't be anywhere near the power of a supercharger, but you'll have an otherwise complete package of an NA sportscar.

It depends on your goals.

I had to go back and check your location to make sure you weren't up in Alaska or Antartica. Can only image it gets plenty hot down in TX. Nice to hear feedback that you have no problems without the fans. Sorry but have to ask you have a Whipple right? You know Internet and all I have to ask. Lol.

But then I need to get half shafts and OPG? So on and so forth...
Unless you will be launching hard with sticker tires and racing at higher RPMS sometimes bouncing off the rev limiter than you don't need the half shafts or OPG and timing gears. Many run without even on stock clutch and hold up well on the street. Yes it's added safety for sure but not absolutely needed. As far as the GT350 intake with Whipple you replace the intake with the Whipple so not needed.

That's the question speedLu, can't seem to make up my mind. I already have tune and exhaust/headers.
I would also do the install myself.

No track or sticky tires for me, all street.
I was sayin either GT350 intake OR Whipple. I know they both don't work together :) as far as bouncing off rev limiter, that happens by accident mostly.

Thanks

How much are you going to spend on intake/cam/tune? None of that is cheap for the S550. Still on stock headers or you going to go for those too? That's a lot of money for maybe 75whp.

~$1100 for the IM
~$300 for and intake
~$1500 cams
~$1300-$2k LT Headers

So you are over $4k and that is without a tune or and installation. Going to install the cams and headers yourself? If not add another $1500.

It adds up fast for maybe 75whp. Why not go for 225whp+ with the Whipple? Driveability will be better to in my opinion.

Or go with a beefcake Paxton kit for literally half the price, make very similar power and still have 4K left over for cosmetic mods.

I think it's crazy that the whipple is so expensive and apparently makes a lot of power on the dyno with the supplied 11psi but o haven't really seen them perform as good as centri's or VMP blowers at the track
