Not to mention they look better, have a more thoughtful design, and have a soul.
The camaro simply is the kid that is always trying to play catch up and is jumping up and down saying "Look at me, look at me!"
How can you measure which has more soul?

Someone like you will always be welcome here, no reason to be a hack. Both cars have their plusses and minuses. One of my engineering instructors ingrained it into me, that when you are asking what is best, the answer is almost always "it depends". Until you put down what your constraints are, there is very rarely a clear winner. If you love Chevy (hey, I will admit I am a Ford guy... nothing wrong with it, it is my money to spend), don't care so much about visibility, interior space or cargo space, and want the fastest bang for the buck in a factory configuration, it is the Camaro right now. If you want something livable, or are planning to mod, the Mustang is the better choice. And the numbers right now speak to what more people value...

I looked at the new camaro before I bought the mustang, didn't care for the styling, interior, or visibility. Drives nice and if I was looking for a track/weekend only car maybe I'd have considered it more, but I don't spend my life on the track. I felt like I could live with mustang day to day but I'd have gotten sick of the camaro.
I agree with you 100%. I didn't drive a new Camaro but I was able to sit in one at a local auto show. First thing I thought was how the visibility sucked. Kind of reminded me of an old 4th gen. I was like they did it again. GM made a great performing car but one that the average person will sit in and say no way Jose. Once again the Mustang is the better car overall to daily drive.

I'm a little surprised by the Challenger numbers. Must be the Gas Monkey marketing. :)

Now, would you seriously call the S550 "drastically" looking different than the last refresh of S197?
Yes, but I would use caps lock when typing it out. The S550 is DRASTICALLY different looking than the S197.

Have you seen one/been in one side by side with the other? I have. My uncle's black on black 14GT/CS next to my black on black 15GT there is so much different about them visually it's impressive that it still looks like a Mustang. Let alone the interior improvements.

I'm very much not a Mustang fanboy (thinking about an SS/Stingray or Challenger next), but to insinuate the S197 and S550 look as similar to each other as the 5th and 6th gen Camaros do is ludicrous.

To Help you make your point I happen to have some pictures of My DIB 2015 next to a DIB 2014

And from a distance it's even more stark

If you can't spot the differences from 100 yards away, I'm not sure you could spot the difference between a 2015 and 2016 Camaro if you were pinned between the two

That wing on that Stratus has to be like 20 hp.

"I drive a Dodge Stratus! I can do 100 push-ups in 20 minutes!"

Ha, the Stratus is so fugly, i guess my brain never registered it next to the majesty of the 'Stangs.

I love a giant wing on the back of a FWD car,
it's like "There wasn't enough understeer built into it from the factory, so I thought I'd fix it."

Whatever I need
Yes, but I would use caps lock when typing it out. The S550 is DRASTICALLY different looking than the S197.
The irony is the S197 was the starting point for the S550 as opposed to the G6 'maro that is based on an entirely different platform from its predesessor.

The pan forward of the S550 rear diff and aft of the firewall is related to the S197. You can tell this by sitting in it and how the doors and A pillar meet and its the same width inside.

If you have ever looked at a Caddy ATS you will note it has a narrow high arse. The new 'maro has inherited this and in order to create a lower looking car, they brought the roof down an extra inch from an already chopped top height and gave it some hips.

Since the S550 is now twice removed from any sedan (the S197 was originally based on the larger than ATS; Lincoln LS), the rear quarters and roof line are IMO a thing of beauty. A nearly pure form coupe that looks sexy whether its a $25k V6 or $50k GT350 (if only you could actually find a Shelby for that price...)

You CAN find a Shelby at that price, a friend of mine just bought a 2011 GT 500 for $42,000 with very low miles, fantastic Mustang,:first: just shop around.

Actually...the S550 project did start out as a S197 evolution...but was eventually dropped and the platform was fresh from the ground up. A few design elements are similar, but the platforms are not related at all.
