Are orders included? Or just deliveries? I'm curious since I ordered a car in January...

Jan 2015: 8,694

Jan 2016: 7,580

Camaro Jan 2016: 5,551

Challenger Jan 2016: 5,085

Mustang outsold the Camaro by 2,029 cars

I'm sure the Camaro fans are going to quickly pipe up about how..

"It's because the 2016 isn't really on the lots yet" - Which is crap because they've been on the lots in force since December

"It's because it's winter" Which didn't stop the Mustang last year

"You can't compare the sales figures since the T4 version isn't out for the Camaro yet"

"People are holding out for the LT4 Camaro"...because it makes sense that people would "hold out" for a $60,000+ Camaro

Either way, they won't accept it as valid.

You're right...you can't. Thanks for making the point for those that aren't biased. We'll know more soon when their T4 hits.

Also are Camaro sales up or down for Jan compared to last year?

Depends on how you see it. Will the T4 buyers be buying the car for the price or performance? In the mustang the ecoboost outsells the V6 handily, despite the price difference. Will the opposite be the case for the camaro?

Correct. We will have to wait until all variants of the Camaro, 4,6 and 8 are available to see how the sales are really going.

Camaro sales are up over last January 4991 sold to 5551 for this year

Wonder how that 7580 Mustangs break out by engine iterations? What percentage of Mustangs are sold with that "Rodney Dangerfield- Get No Respect" Cyclone motor?

Given the delays with T4 production...that means we won't get a "valid" comparison until May or June.

More than likely the 2016 MY Mustang will finish out before the T4 Camaro gets into the wild in force.

It would be interesting to see, but I have not seen that for any month so far. Seems like Ford doesn't wish to share that info

Also got to take into consideration that this is the time when all the diehard camaro enthusiasts will be buying the car, despite the cost, and would most likely be the V6 and V8 options anyways. So you would hope to see a bigger spike in sales. I bet the average transaction cost was 40K plus for the camaro.

To be fair, Ford has seriously limited the options on the V6, and detuned the car to give the ecoboost the peak hp advantage. For a very small price increase one can get a much better equipped ecoboost than a very basic v6.

The price difference between the mustangs V6 base option and the T4 is about the same as the camaro's base T4 and V6 upgrade. Who wouldnt want to step up into the model that gives you 60 more hp? Just as most dealers order ecoboost optioned cars, i'm sure chevy dealers will order their V6 optioned cars more often than not.

More than likely...it's nicer to advertise "336 HP!" vs "275 HP"

There's something psychological about the 300 HP benchmark..part of the reason why it was a big deal when the 1997 SVT Cobra had a standard 305 HP and when the LS1's had 305-315-325 HP.

Even if the T4 cars will be just as quick if not quicker...it's not as fun to say "275 HP" vs "335 HP".
