I've said this before, but I strongly believe Ford is really going after the buyers they missed out on that didn't care for the air craft carrier hood and few hard plastics in the interior. The engine update is out of necessity...as the F150 goes, so does the mustang. This go around isn't going to be about beating the competition in performance, but to wring out as many sales on the S550 platform as possible before the S650 is released in a few years.The casual buyer probably does not even know about the 2018 changes. You have people that don't want to wait or may need a car and can't wait. The 6th gen has only been out three model years as well so it is not exactly old. But sales may slow down a bit but it doesn't appear that way.
Certain groups make the car out be a pile of junk but it sells and continues to sell. The 6th gen Mustang has been a huge success overall and the refresh will carry on the sales success most likely.
