Well, unfortunately for everyone here foreign policy is the job of the executive branch and there is speculation that the known corruption in Ukraine is involving an American citizen. It is Trump's job, whether you like it or not, to get to the bottom of it. Being that Biden is running for President makes getting to the bottom of it even more important.
His big mistake was making his "corruption probe" too personal and specifically tying it to names. That then makes it a focus on Trump (and most likely Rudy and others possibly involved too) as the law breakers asking a foreign country to mettle in our political process. That's what the impeachment investigation is for, to see what really went on. Wait until they get some of the other involved people/witnesses to testify ... I want to hear what Bolton and Gordon Sondland have to say for instance. Also Rudy, but I have a feeling he would lie under oath as he seems very slimy to me.

Then you have Biden on TV, bragging about withholding foreign aid to Ukraine unless they fired the prosecutor investigating his son's company. I can send you to a quote directly from Biden of you want.
I'm pretty sure if those actions broke any laws someone in the government would have raised a red flag over it, especially if it was said on TV for the whole nation to hear. The other political party in this country is always watching what the other one is doing. Any law breaking (perceived or actual) is always being watched.

Besides the blatant hypocrisy, they are trying to impeach a President over something he obviously didn't do, there is no actual link to any quid pro quo and the only proof they have is what someone heard someone who heard someone say something. Ridiculous. Trump is certainly not perfect, but for once, we have someone in the white house that is trying to help America.
Like I've pointed out and gave link sources to, you don't even really need a "quid pro quo" to break the laws of asking for foreign help in order to win a political campaign. Simply asking a foreign country to get involved and mettle with our political elections is against the law - regardless if you give them anything in return for doing so.

So let me ask, and this goes for anyone reading this thread. If Trump actually came out and admitted that he wanted the Ukraine to dig up dirt on Biden to try and politically hurt Biden to try and help himself win the 2020 election, would you be OK with that?

Are you willing to protect this country from foreign detractors?

Glad to hear, and I agree.

I will also say that any President or any politician in high power (regardless of party) who uses the power of his office to lie, cheat and scheme for his own personal gain is also something that should not be tolerated.

Anyone who does tolerate that kind of behavior is no better than him, and is not a patriot and someone who wants this country to change into something that it was not designed to be. There have been many judges that have been impeached if you go read up on this stuff. That even includes Trump if he's guilty of doing such shenanigans to personally benefit himself (that includes attempting to, which seems to be the focus of the impeachment hearings). I have a feeling many of his followers wouldn't give a sh*t what he does as long as he remains president, but that is a dangerous way to think.

Yep, the whole government needs a gigantic enigma - on both sides. I wonder if the founding fathers ever imagined that our government would become such a dividend cluster fook. The two parties of today never existed until around 1850, and it's probably been downhill ever since.

If Trump were going after someone for political gain, it certainly wouldn't be Biden. Trump would LOOOOOVE to run against Biden in the next election. Biden is probably the best candidate if Trump wants to make sure he will win.

Actually I have always thought Biden would be the most likely to beat Trump. I fully believe a lot of people who are undecided would consider voting for him instead of Trump, fully believing he is too stupid and feeble to do much harm.

I agree with you Doc. (Did I just say that :)) I think he is the strongest opponent in terms of overall popularity for lack of a better descriptor. And certainly being more in the middle he could steal some folks teetering for either side. I personally like Biden but he comes off being rather addled and stammering which I think is going to come into play against him if it hasn't already.

I'm just picturing Biden in a debate and all the gaffes he would make. Entertaining, but not confidence inspiring in any way. And he's already said so many stupid things publicly that it would be easy to come up with negative ads against him.
