You're right that the stock shifter is too tall. I replaced mine with a short-stem White Madness kit. I hate the stock auto shifter. Had to hack an inch off of the stock stem but it's much better. It does indeed look more like a manual, and I like it much more this way.

That looks incredible compared to the stock shifter. Nice work! I also love that red stitching.

Small upgrade from stock here. Co2 shifted M&M unit.

Ford owns Lincoln.

Lincoln has the digital displays build into the dash all the way across the front.

Yet somehow the mustang gets this cheap looking, 5th grader designed screen that looks like it was glued onto the dash. Just terrible.

One of the first mods I did to my 10R80 equipped mach 1 was the WM short shifter handle. And since I had the PRNDS engraved into the knob, I swapped out the auto boot for a manual one.

Since the stock handle from the S-550 is identical to the S-650, there is a 99.9% chance that the WM garage shifter handles will work in the 650's too.

AAAAAAARGH! Just pick a drive mode and mash the accelerator and enjoy the experience, If the length of the shifter concerns you, you may have other problems to consider. 😒😊

He probably has concerns for the lengths of other things, which is why he's so fixated on this thing being so big and gaudy. Sounds like a little bit of jealousy.

Why does teh Ranger get this nice small thing:

but the Mustang get this huge thing that looks like it's trying to pretend to be a manual? The smaller shifter would make the little storage in front of it easier to get to and use. As much as my knee would like me to move to an A10, every time I see that shifter I just cringe. Its probably the worst part of the Mustangs interior.

Interesting. When I zoom in on the shifter in your picture and look at the A/C vents and control panel that includes the start button, It looks like that whole part of the panel is mis-aligned. I suppose that this was intentional on the part of Ford to angle the dash towards the driver a little bit, but it looks terrible! The S650 interior (dash) designer had strange ideas!

Yes, it is angled towards the driver. I think it’s mainly for the second screen but all of this is pointed to the driver. Having driven a few, it’s not super noticeable. I was telling the general manager of the dealer I buy my cars from that they really need to integrate the screens a little better. He said it’s a fairly common complaint. He’s not sure if Ford will do anything about it but he did say it’s been mentioned more than a few times to their regional rep.

AM knob, Ford manual leather boot, 5 Spurs red surround. A simple light push down to be able to shift. Love my setup.

Far from it.
as well. I don't ever see myself buying an s650 due to the dash. I love the looks outside but that's a dealbreaker for me.

wonder who will be the first to swap an s550 gauge pack into an s650....
