  1. Ford LMDh

Is it me but it sounds to throaty for a 5L.

One thing I should mention is, when removing a bolt or nut always use a 6 point socket first to break it loose. An open end wrench for breaking nuts loose will round off the corners of the nut, since it only applies torque on 2 faces of the nut. 12 point sockets are also not well suited to break...
  3. Cyber Sec Guy with 0 Tool Experience, Starting my 2020 EcoBoost Journey!

A good quality tool will make any job go smoothly. A cheap tool will ruin parts, bolts, screws, and nuts, never mind that it could break and injure you. Once a fastener is damaged by a cheap tool, you will spend boat loads of time trying to remove it. I'm not advising you to spend top dollar on...
  4. Cyber Sec Guy with 0 Tool Experience, Starting my 2020 EcoBoost Journey!

Don't cheap out on tools. Just remember a good tool will last a lifetime. So cry only once. As far as Harbor Freight goes, they have gotten better over the years. Yes, you can still get dirt cheap junk there, but they do offer higher quality tools now. Just look at them really well. If it looks...
  5. Best product to restore all the black plastic bits

I use Cerakote wipes. They work well, but not a cure all. If only slightly faded then it will restore to like new. But heavily sun baked then it can only do so much. It will be improved but not restored. Once black plastic fades to a light gray, then it's either paint or replacement.
  6. Warning: Safety recalls and the M-9603-M8B performance kit

So the Ford tune is locked to the VIN#. The version of the tune shows up when you connect the tool. You register the tune with Ford via the VIN#. So I call BS that Ford don't know what the car has. This is not 3rd party tunes. The dealership's tool should know from that once they connect to the...
  7. Strange Lugnut issue on 2021 MUSTANG GT

I don't have factory locking lugs.
  8. Strange Lugnut issue on 2021 MUSTANG GT

Just chiming in, my 2021 GT/CS has solid lug nuts, and so does my 2011 premium. My daughter's 2012 Focus had the 2 piece lugs. I bought a special socket to remove them once they swelled up. Replaced with solid.
  9. Warning: Safety recalls and the M-9603-M8B performance kit

I don't buy the fact that Ford doesn't know their own tunes. The GT, Mach 1, GT350, and GT500 are all performance cars that Ford produces. They all don't get the same tune. They also sell performance tunes for these cars. So you don't think that safety recalls are needed for all of these cars...
  10. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

Well, not today, but on Saturday I rescued my car from the dealer. you can read all about it here; https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/warning-safety-recalls-and-the-m-9603-m8b-performance-kit.232385/ On the drive home, it reminded me why I installed the M-9603-M8B kit in the first place...
  11. Would you buy 5yr-old production tires from Tire Rack? Regularly $550 a tire for $290.

If I recall it's UV light that dries out the rubber. So if the tries are in a warehouse with no exposure to sunlight then I would think they'd be fine. I have cars that have tires on them that have well over 5 years of direct exposure to sunlight and they seem fine. Now having said that, I would...
  12. New IT Mod Everyone Must Do: Epoxy Coated Marine Battery Cable Terminals

Agreed, however those surfaces are not in compression. If the battery cable clamped down then yes, but it's clamped around the post. There is no guarantee that the mating surfaces are held tightly enough to matter. Once corrosion starts under the clamp then all bets are off.
  13. New IT Mod Everyone Must Do: Epoxy Coated Marine Battery Cable Terminals

I've been using the anti-corrosion felt washer on the battery posts on several cars for quite some time and it prevents the corrosion quite well. And they are super cheap $2.
  14. Warning: Safety recalls and the M-9603-M8B performance kit

I'm posting this as a public service bulletin, I took my car to the dealership for safety recalls for the fuel pump recall # 25V455 and the bake fluid level recall # 23C35. The recall software will overwrite the tune from the Ford Performance Kit # M-9603-M8B. The car will be in limp mode with a...
  15. At what point do you consider replacing your current Mustang with another one?

The car I have now, a 2021 GT/CS is special enough for me. At my age, I have not explored the limits of this car yet. It's more car than I need, and more fun than the roads around me will allow. I made it mine with unique and tasteful mods. I, like so many others, am not enamored by the S650...
  16. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

Took it to the dealership this morning for safety recalls for the fuel pump and the bake fluid level. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the software updates don't screw up my car. Update: I went to pick up my car and got a dashboard full of lights and the car in limp mode. Way to go Ford...
  17. What did you do to your GT350 today?

I use the UPR drain plug. It does have a tendency for it to come completely out when turning the valve, but if you hold it from turning then the valve will open. 2 changes on the drain plug. No issue with it leaking. It uses double O rings and a plug cap. It's nice that can control the flow...
  18. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

That car is a keeper. Very low production numbers if you look. I love mine.
  19. What did you do to your S550 Mustang today?!

It was 100 degrees today, so I decided to install an Evil Energy oil catch can. Took only 15 minutes to do, but my T shirt was soaked in sweat. Got a great deal on it on Amazon $65. Very well made with internal baffle. Greased the threads so I can get it open later. Also used teflon tape to seal...
  20. Loss of power after spark plug replacement

Sounds like the car is in limp mode. Does your scanner read transmission codes? If it was a vacuum leak, clogged cat, misfire, it would throw a code. But you could have a transmission problem and the car went into limp mode.
