Still a museum piece. Still based on an ancient design. I didnt say it wasnt effective. I know guys that can get a carb to perform just as well or sometimes better than fuel injection, but time to move on. Sorry hurt your feelings (was it the mullet comment?)
You didn't hurt my feelings, I was just clarifying that it has just as advanced technology as the Coyote, or more, actually, with the higher-end materials and Rotocast head manufacturing process, except in a pushrod configuration (speaking of the LT4 specifically). Overhead cam engines aren't exactly modern; the single overhead camshaft debuted back in 1902, and DOHC debuted in 1910. It's only a few years newer than pushrod, and not exactly a cutting-edge configuration anymore, esp. when it's physically larger and less fuel efficient (or at best similar fuel efficiency, despite a smaller displacement) than the "old" pushrod GM small block at the same hp outputs.

DOHC is a way to make more power per unit displacement, but in a physically larger package, which is good for places like Europe where engines/cars are taxed based on their engine displacement. But, we don't have that problem in the US (not sure about Canada), so power per displacement is a meaningless metric here. It comes down to power delivery preference or other goals at that point.

I loved the gen 3 Coyote in my 2018 GT - wonderful, great engine - but not as good as the LT4.

No personality to it in my honest opinion. When I see a challenger I know what I’m looking at. Same for Corvette. Ditto for Mustang.

The Camaro revival in 2010 certainly wasn’t ugly by any means but I absolutely hate the interior with a passion. It looks hideous, none of the shapes in the cabin come together and the visibility is atrocious. I don’t understand the obession with rectangular windows.

Also I feel they all look the same. I parked beside a 2016 GT350 the other day and I immediately knew what I was looking at before I even got close to the vehicle. Same for the Roush mustangs. Even the Eco and GT look different enough where you can guess.

Every Camaro looks the same to me. They aren’t working with an animal mascot but the only way to really tell what kind of Camaro I’m looking at is to get close and look at a small badge in the grill. Just not a fan personally

For the same reason I don't like brussels sprouts, because they taste like little brunt cabbages.

The same way I hear my GT PP2, & angrier then the Mach 1. As to the interior, Ford has always been heads above camaro.

Test drove one in 2019, at that point I had been almost exclusively GM for about 25 years so I was ready to buy it. Just wanted a test drive to confirm my thoughts. Well, the test drive changed everything. Couldn’t see $hit. Interior finish was ok, typical GM so I was used to it. It handled really well but I couldn’t get over how poor the visibility was. Decided to wait and test drove a Challenger, Charger and then a Mustang. Challenger and Charger were fun but they just didn’t do anything for me. I walked out of the Dodge dealership with just a ā€œmehā€ reaction. Then I drove a Mustang. Always loved the looks of the S550 but being a GM guy, I was always Never Ford. Driving the Mustang was a ton of fun and I was hooked. Bought my first one in January 2020, a 2016, and ordered a brand new one in May 2022. I even converted my dad, who also was a GM guy primarily (my parents had a few BMW’s sprinkled in there too). He just bought a 2020 GT Premium a couple weeks ago and is loving it! My mom still drives a Caddy so they have a dueling garage (like my wife and me, she drives a GMC) 😁

When I was 18 I had an ā€˜86 IROC-Z and I absolutely loved that car! When it came time to get a muscle car in my adult life, I first looked at the 2016+ Camaros. What really put me off on them was the interior… i started expanding my search into Challenger and Mustang territory and fell in love with the Mustang interior.

I am very qualified to answer this. I bought a 2021 LT1 with 15k miles on it and traded it in after 4 months on a 2021 5.0 premium with 8k miles on it. Though the Camaro was truly a beautiful car, I found it very tight in the seating area. The LT1 trim level was lacking in all the creature comfort features that come standard on the premium level Stang. The ultimate reason I traded was because of the lower block limitations of the camaro. I wanted to boost it with a procharger, but was told by performance shop they were not comfortable going beyond 650Hp. His last comment was you should have bought a Mustang. I put it back to stock and traded it in. Mustang getting boosted in a few weeks we'll above 650hp with room for more with no issues.

I've never understood this blind hatred of one brand over another. That Americans in particular seem to have.

I rented a Camaro for 2 weeks while a car was getting repaired.. It drove great, but interior was really cheap and the getting in and out was not easy. I'm not a big guy, but it's really awkward the way the seat is positioned with the wide doors. Chevy drivetrain is great.. I wish it had more retro like the Challenger.. I owned a 69 Camaro when I was a teenager. Loved it. But this car did not hit the mark for me.

I owned a 2010 Challenger SRT8... I loved that car, but I've always driven 100-300 miles per day for work or travel. It's a very comfortable cruiser with a lot of power. The Mercedes platform it sits on is great for this. I owned a 1970 Challenger TA that I restored and sold... Loved it.. lol. This car nailed the retro look.

I bought the Mustang because I wanted to do SCCA Solo events and I owned a 87 GT I bought new when I was 18. Drove a GT and went for the Mach 1, because I could. I plan on keeping it for a long time. Something I have never been able to do because I hit 300,000 on my cars in 5-6 years.. This one gets to. be in a garage and used a few times a month for local driving. I wish it looked more like a 69/70 fastback.. but I still like the way it looks and mimics a lot of it.

There is a pattern to my madness.

The Coyote is strong. However, no issues at 700-750 rwhp is not remotely true. I personally know or have known 6 Coyote owners who have 700+ rwhp in the last couple of years; 5 of them have had to rebuild transmissions after breaking them on the street (not launching at a drag strip). Mostly A10s, but also M6 and A6. So, it’s not an unbreakable drivetrain, nor ā€œset it and forget itā€ with a supercharger. The one that hasn’t rebuilt only roll races on the street, and he only had it boosted for like 6 months then put it back to stock and sold it.

Also, the ring gap isn’t set for boost so you can’t do long pulls without seriously risking the engine.

That said, boost to 750 with extreme caution.

The Mustang will always be cooler than a Camaro and it is a better daily driver than one, hence the sales numbers. Doesn’t even get it’s own badge, rocking that hideous bow tie front and rear. The Camaro’s interior pretty much hasn’t been changed since 2016 model year aka cars that have been on the road since 2015.. my freshman year in HS lol. The resale value of Camaro’s are higher since there’s much less of them sold, which is a con if you’re trying to buy a used one because you’re paying more for less. It also has less interior and trunk space with awful visibility. But the main thing for me is the 5.0 Coyote vs the pushrod LT1. The 5.0 has way more character, revs to 7400 compared to like 6400, and sounds a hell of a lot better imo. In the Camaro autos there’s way less drama and you don’t feel much of anything.

im sure the SS is more reliable and they also have a bigger fuel tank which is cool but I don’t regret going with the Mustang. Can’t go wrong either way, a V8 in 2023 is a win to me
It’s 6500 rpm in the LT1 and LT4, but yeah, for me it’s a toss up between Camaro SS and GT at the same trim level. Both are cool and great performance cars for the $$. Camaro handles better and has better transmissions and transmission tuning (A10 in Camaro is light years ahead of A10 in Mustang). The Mustang has better visibility and a bigger trunk. For the record I’ve never filled either trunk to the max., so trunk size is not a big factor (owned a 2018 Premium GT PP1 A10 w/ Magneride for almost 2.5 yrs, and currently own a ā€˜21 ZL1).

Thanks for the info. No track time or digs for me. Roll race a bit here and there. The car will be fun to drive and I won't worry so much about exceeding the 600 ish limitations of the LT1. This is only my opinion, and why I chose Mustang over Camaro
