1000whp isn't gonna run 8's with a manual trans in a S550 convertible. Unless your car is stripped, race weight has to be at least 4000lbs.

Here is a video of Birdoc's GT500. Its 1200-1400whp and heavy but still probably lighter than a S550 vert.

There are a few good options for boost. Serious power goals call for the correct hardware. :)

Turbo and a manual will not get it done.

I have Hoosier slicks and skinnies on race star wheels 14pso cold. They weren't hooking.
Something is wrong try 18psi long enough burn out to see smoke then launch at 5,500 by not dumping! Thats a good starting point.

More power never solves traction issues. You can probably spend less money getting the car to hook and be faster. Then you'll be ready for more power.

You think raising pressure will help?? When tires are warm its reading 17psi.

Also I can try slipping clutch longer (RXT) but I let it out kinda fast, but not a dump.

Agreed. And that's mostly my plan. I'm building the motor now to handle the power, so while its all apart thinking of switching my blower to what will handle the power. That way I can step up the power as I perfect the launch at the different stages.

If you go the turbo route, I would choose ^ this over Hellion. I did. The quality of the kit, the manifolds, and the thought that went into everything is second to none on the turbo scene IMO.

Isn't that kit more than $2k than what the Hellion kit is? Plus, Hellion has already proved multiple times that it can put mustangs in the 8s.

It does cost more than the Hellion base kit, but then again the base Blackbird kit is ball bearing turbos while the Hellion kit is journal bearings. Hellion has proved they can go fast, doesn't mean their kit is the best just because they have been on the market all this time. I'd encourage you to check out the Blackbird thread, look at the pictures, and talk to Noah.

Thanks all for your help and support! 10 rib whipple has been ordered after some great advice from Terry TeamBeefCake Racing. I have been soul searching on this for the past week and I think I made the right choice for ease of fitment etc.

Will keep all posted in my build thread!
